Hi guys, updating my team and will continue to do so in this thread, looking for feedback:

Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Duffield, Vlastuin, Pittard, Docherty (Terlich, Van Unen)
Mid: GAJ, Pendles, JPK, Cotchin, Ball, Wines, Stevens, Crouch  (O'Meara, Viney)
Ruck: Jacobs, Berger (Rowe, Currie)
Fwd: Cox, Roughy, Bartel, Rockliff, Stevie J, Macaffer (Lee, Staker)

$2,700 remaining in the kitty.

Had Sandi in the rucks and Jelwood in Mids (out for Ball), but decided to bolster my fwd line (Previously had Membrey on fwd bench, swapped out with Bartel in, Staker to bench).

Rather fwd heavy but given the looks of rookie fwds I don't think there is much to bank this year.

I know Stevie J is out first round, will bench him but leave him in the team. I may look at a cheaper rookie than Vlastuin as I slightly prefer Birchall to Duffman but can't quite afford him at present.

Thoughts?

Team looks quite good mate

3 def premo's is fine so long as all your rooks play on a weekly basis

Mids look good aswell, Ball seems popular, not sure he can average all that more than a top line rookie thought

Rucks Fine

Forwards nice and strong, hopefully ya forward rookie performs in place of Stevie J round 1

Thanks Col.
I'm waiting to see if Brett Goodes gets elevated at the dogs and if he does I would strongly consider him in place of Ball. That would free up ~180K to pump in somewhere, though I'm not honestly sure where I would put it. I had always thought Pav would be in there but lack of pre season puts me off. Other than that I guess I would just have a look at who's worth investing in, else I might just bank a bit of money.

fever

i think this looks really good man

Nice Team -

Staker to Nead will probably give you enough to go Duffield to Birchill.  Staker probably will not play till round 4 or 5 so will be a handy downgrade target around Round 7 when cashing in cash cows.

That is only change I would make and watch rest of rookies in NAB cup

GCSkiwi

Thanks Ringo, somehow I missed the Staker memo. Good idea, I thought Neade looked promising so was on the rookie radar anyway. Will make the swap but as you say no rookies really locked in yet...

Updated team:

Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Birchall, Vlastuin, Pittard, Docherty (Terlich, Van Unen)

Mid: GAJ, Swan, Pendles, JPK, Fyfe, Wines, Goodes, Crouch  (O'Meara, Viney)

Ruck: Jacobs, Berger (Rowe, Daw)

Fwd: Cox, Roughy, Rockliff, Stevie J, Varcoe, Macaffer (Lee, Neade)

$55,400  remaining.

This is my current line up. I'm considering Roughy ->Walker due to the hawks opening draw.
Thoughts?

Nice team now Kiwi.

Waiting for a week or 2 to review rookies as we have only seen them for mini games.  Will comment on Vlastin though is a bit expensive and with Tigers depth can not see him getting games,  Maybe similar to Morris/Grimes last year, may get the dreaded vest as well.

Are you happy to let Stevie J sit on the pine as he is suspended for Round 1.

Do not mind Roughy to Walker - Other thing to consider that for first week of NAB Cup he was used at CHB so is this foreshadowing a change of Role or just a trial so watch the next 3 NAB Cup rounds although from a Hawks perspective may not tell us a lot,

Selection of prems is strong 12 prems plus Berger and Fyfe who may become prems. Well done.

Thanks Ringo. I'm not sure about Stevie J vs Bartel - I see Stevie J scoring more by seasons end and I'll pick rookies playing round 1 so not that concerned about benching him. So open to thoughts there.

I did a lot of tweaking to try and get Yarran or Atley at D4 but it means dropping Swan and JPK to Murphy and Cotchin, and Varcoe to Byrnes... 3 reasonable drops to get a slightly more sure D4 not really worth ir IMO. Though I am concerned at the long term life of the rookies... Not quite as nice as the GWS crowd last year that were guaranteed close to a season's worth of games...

Can't Fault this team except that you will to move Stevie to the Bench for Round 1 or replace him with another premium.
Good Selection of Jacobs in the Ruck . Just Keep tabs of how your rookies go in the remaining Nab cup game  8/10

Ok GCSKiwi

Def - Think about Duffield instead of Birchall but both good selections in my opinion. Vlaustin is a vest candidate so probably move goodes to defence

Mid. very solid, Replace Goodes with K Mitchell. I think he is lock if elevated. Bear in my that GAJ, Swan and Pendles share Round 13 so I would go Cotchin or Deledio for Pendles. I believe you need Swan for the get go.

Ruck: Very solid

Fwds: Keep an eye on Stevie J, may be out Round 1.

A good overall team! Good Luck

Ok so I changed my mind on a few players, see the latest :P

Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Duffield, Vlastuin, Pittard, Docherty (Terlich, Van Unen)

Mid: GAJ, Swan, Pendles, JPK, Fyfe, Wines, Goodes, Crouch  (O'Meara, Viney)

Ruck: Jacobs, Berger (Rowe, Daw)

Fwd: Cox, Pavlich, Rockliff, Chappy, Varcoe, Macaffer (Lee, Neade)

$7,100  remaining.

Pav I keep flipping the coin on, he'll definitely be in my final team just whether or not I roll the dice round 1...
Duffman and Birchall I think are also a coinflip, but I was 2k short to get Chappy for Stevie J with Birch in the team.
Rooks still under review, have heeded Vlastuin comments, just don't have anyone better to swap him to right now ;) Docherty also got a bullseye on him after less than impressive showings...

Ringo

Join the coaches with the moving teams:

Team is solid

Def: Nice pick with Duffield starting to see him in quite a few teams now so maybe not as unique as originally thought.
Mids:  Very solid with Fyfe at M5.
Rucks: Solid - Like the choice of Jacobs.
Fwds: Sound - Pav will be a POD especially if he goes bang from day one. (Hope the little Pav does not keep him awake too much though), Chappy not in a lot of teams and could be a nice POD,

As you say rookies will be finalised with some needing to step up over the next couple of weeks.

Updated again...

Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Duffield, Yarran, Goodes, Pittard (Docherty, Terlich)

Mid: GAJ, Swan, Pendles, JPK, Mundy, Wines, Crouch, O'Meara (Toumpas, Viney)

Ruck: Jacobs, Berger (Rowe, Currie)

Fwd: Franklin, Cox, Rockliff, Varcoe, Byrnes, Macaffer (Lee, Neade)

$38,900 remaining

But now Berger might be out, need a contingency plan. I just don't think he can be trusted any more...
Firstly, if Kane Mitchell is named round 1 he would probably slot in place of Toumpas in the mids. Also would be happy to go back to a 3 rookie backline (downgrade Yarran), which should give me ~200k to put into Berger. Would leave me with a 3 prem/3rook starting def and fwd line, but set and forget rucks and a gun midfield (I feel). Any suggestions other than this??

leave a link and I'll happily chip in on other coaches teams!

Rucks 2013 - 8 averaged > 100. 4 are DPP. So we have an abundance of high scoring (> 100 ppg) rucks to fill only 2 spots.

Forwards 2013 - 8 averaged > 100. 4 are rucks. So we have a dearth of decent forwards.

A lot are not keen on Chappy, Pav early, and Walker (KPP) which means a lot of rucks will be selected this year as forwards.

I think NicNat will be a forward upgrade target to join Buddy, Cox etc in a few weeks.

This makes me think I should fill R1 and R2 with the best available pure ruck men.

PS I know a lot of mids were DPP last year, but good luck predicting them.
