Cox will have to do the Majority of the rucking for the first half of the year while Nic Nat is out as Lycett isn't good enough to be a full time ruck, while even when Nic Nat comes back I can see him being the one who plays the majority up forward as he'll be underdone and will take a little while to find his feet. 110 for Cox I think is very realistic.

Dean will be 32 before finals and has a career high of 107, twice. I would think that when Nic does come in he would Ruck

Especially when Eagles are right up there in terms of Premiership chances. I would have thought Eagles would nurse Cox through the year so he's 100% come finals.

At the same time though we aren't too keen on rushing back Nic Nat so it could be roun 9/10 before we see Nic and in his absence Coxy will smash it.

Eagles fans would know we go through this every year. How will we manage Coxy? When do we rest Coxy? Fact is, Coxy doesn't do rests. I remember in 2010 when Coxy was struggling with groin injuries Woosha offered to rest him but Coxy refused and played out the year.

Since then he hasn't needed a rest in the 66+ games since.

The man is a beast and will score well whether rucking (with Lycett at FF, pinch-hitting) or in the fwd line (with Nic Nat sharing 50:50). Look at our midfield and you'll see the service is only improving to the bog fwds as SHuey, Selwood, Wellingham and Gaffy mature.

Eagles rant over.

Cox will be solid but not ideal preparation going into the season with a busted hand.

Memphistopheles

Grimes will break down again and won't be in the top six defenders, let alone the top 3.

Goddard 111, Gibbs 106, B Waters 99.

Swan 126, Ablett 122, Boyd 119.

Cox 105, Sandilands 100, I Maric 96.

Johnson 109, Franklin 106, Cox 105 (Rockliff 101).

He's playing next week, all he's missed is ball work. Has been running with the finger injury ;)

Would be doing no upper body weights though, probably wouldn't hurt him much. Wasn't aware he would see much NAB at all.

He's done all the preseason work up until the last week or so and said in his interview during the Eagles game that he would absolutely be back for the game against the Pies in a couple of weeks.

I do seem him slowing down a bit this year, With up and comers coming into the team and pushing the more mid time and Swan already saying he will retire at the end of 2014 i see him spending a bit more time forward this year as they try to groom him for a forward role in 2014 spending a little bit of time in the guts. Still will be good enough to pump out some good scores.

How true is this "I will retire at the end of 2014" declaration?

Like, has anyone seen him actually say it? Was it a tongue-in-cheek comment of was he serious because he could go on for years still...
