F6 for me at the moment .. seems like he will be good for a 60-70? average

The following post comes from a Pies fan point of view and his thoughts about where Caff could fit into the team.

Hmmm Macaffer and the entire Pies FWD line interests me  :-\

It all depends on the fitness of Ball and Thomas come RD 1. If Ball plays it pushes someone like Sidebottom to a HF flank. Thomas plays he'll probably play on another flank. Then theres Blair who probably would start in FWD line or on bench. Cloke and Lynch are obviously starters. Goldsack was good as 3rd tall last season and is good for defensive pressure, can also play back if required. Krak is probably the number 1 small FWD atm.

That leaves the first 18 being

B:Maxwell Brown Toovey
HB: Shaw Reid O'Brien
C: Beams Ball Young
HF: Sidebottom Cloke Thomas
F: Goldsack Lynch Krakouer
R: Jolly Swan Pendlebury

These blokes are nearly certain to start if fit. Alot to go through before RD 1 starts. Blairy is also a starter so he's definitly on the pine. Then it comes down to the team structure and those that play well during the NAB. There are a plethora of small FWDs in Fasolo, Caff, Elliot, Dids and Sinclair. Defenders like Russell, Clarke, Johnson, Williams & Seedsman. Back in our 2010 premiership we played Cloke, Dawes & Brown in the same team.  So its very unlikely but they may want to see how Cloke, Lynch & Paine go in the same side or even Cloke, Lynch & Witts because Jols can play pretty well FWD.

I hope Caff plays not just because hes pretty good but because after everything hes been through it'd be great to see him succeed. If he plays and avoids vests he'll be a very good scorer and avg 75+. The way he played on Friday night, he should get a spot on the bench. For what its worth I've got him at F7 because of the lack of FWD rookies. He should score well enough for an F6 but if he was F6 it would mean I'd have to find another rookie. Caff and Neade are the only ones i think are worth it atm.

Sorry if I bored you but there are my thoughts on Caff's position in the side. The last couple NAB games are crucial but hopefully he gets named RD 1 and without the vest  :D

Do others disagree with what I've said (especially fellow Pie supporters)??

Pies look very good next year!

Makes me wonder about Caff though...

They should be thereabouts in September again this year.  :-[  :P

yorgis

looks ok for f6 or f7. again it all depends on selections for rnd 1, krak, varcoe, byrnes, knights, lee, etc. i have him pencilled

in but if he don' t get picked, he gets the boot

T Dog

was it just me or did Krak not seem fit on the weekend?

yorgis

eade said on 360 last night that krak has been training exceptionally well but seemed very lethargic . he said that they're

not overly concerned about him

T Dog

If he is not 100% the Caffs value increases initially.

MGK1

Not many rookie options in the forwards as everyone knows, will be a good F6 imo. With 2-3 midpricers he could be pushed to F7.

Well he's going to need a bit of help to get a game, isn't he? I don't like his chances...

Better than, Stevenson, Viney, Colquhoun, Mitchell, Lee, Staker, Crouch, Neale, Wines, who else ???

JS and scoring beter than most these guys

Macaffer doesn't have better job security than Viney or Wines - probably equal. He needs to get a game for Collingwood, far more difficult task for even a formerly established player. Some of those other guys, yeah I'm not picking but bar Staker (injured anyway) & Wines, all those who you listed are 24k cheaper. Not money to be scoffed at.

Sorrry man but you are delusional if you think Wines and Viney are your full season answers, Macca is way ahead of these guts but let's see in the pre-season cup just who is named

Stop banking on outside reviews and pick the best round one rooks forn yourself

Never said Wines & Viney are full season answers, just that they have equal job security to Macaffer. I'll wait until Round 1 to see who's named.

Tyes

I have a feeling that Bucks and the Pies rate him. From what I have read in articles and the fact that they asked him to wear number 3 to honour Jmac it would seem they want him in their best 22. Macaffer just has to put in a good Nab and he has a spot imo. Macaffer getting the vest, either red or green is my biggest concern.
