Taking the punt on the rucks.
Thinking about downgrading Gibbs or Waters to get Lake. (Or maybe swapping Broughton and Lake)
Then possibly upgrading Horlin-Smith to Ball.
Have loaded on youth in the midfield as I feel there are less in other areas of the ground.

Backs need work - Waters will have a slow start I hear.

Def rooks better than fwd rooks.

yeah i would simply take waters out for a rookie (pittard or docherty). 5 prem def feels like too many at this stage.

i dont think horlin smith is especially better than other rookies as far as scoring potential goes (and maybe even JS). there's talk about the GC lonergan being handy, plus that saves you 70k or thereabouts.

kreuz is a unique ruck option, but as someone who had him last year i can tell you you're probably in for a bumpy ride. sandi/maric/jacobs are all better options imo.

i heard daniher isnt going to play much early on so you can probably afford to upgrade him to wright or stevie J and balance out a 4/4 prem back/fwd ratio.

Backs You are too strong which makes some of your other lines weak so downgrade Broughton to a rookie
Mids: Upgrade Horlin Smith to Ftfe or a premium of your Choice
Rucks: Kreuzer is a unique pick but can he join the Elite Rucks somehow i think you are better off with a premium
Fwds: Downgrade Staker to Neade as Staker won't play the first few games

Overall: You need only to make minor adjustments as you have a strong team. I give it an 8.5/10

Thoughts on Lake vs Broughton? Or neither?

Great updated team.

Def - I've been confused about broughton for a while and decided against him at this stage. I guess we have to wait for his preseason if he doesn't show much I'd downgrade him to a yarran or someone similar.

Mids - no complaints

Rucks - I feel Maric is slightly overpriced, considered goldy and save a bit as well? However there is no real critisism.

Forwards - I'm not sold on varcoe or daniher I'd look at someone like Byrnes.

Overall excellent team 9/10

wrt maric the only thing stopping me from having him was the fact sandi is equally priced. maric killed it last year and only slowed down when he picked up a niggling groin he couldnt shake, but presumably he's over that now and ready to do all the rucking for rich again.

cliff i think you're too light on in the fwds. i am not sold on broughton, we just dont know what sort of plans the GC have for him atm. i think you can downgrade him to a rookie or someone like yarran and use the cash up fwd. i dont think varcoe will be a great scorer even if he stays fit, so really you're just putting an over-priced rookie in there.
