2011 Games: 20
2012 Average: 99.4

2012 Games: 20
2012 Average: 104.6

Averages last 5 seasons: 94.6, 90.4, 95.5, 92.4, 99.4, 104.6

Thoughts:

Brent Stanton always has a great start to the season, but always finds a way to fade out during the second half of the home and away matches. The scoring potential is definitely there, as he showed in his first 8 games of 2012 with scores of 180, 134, 93, 161, 71, 154, 164, 142 with an average of 137. In the second half of the year, he only averaged 82.5, with only two scores over 100, them being a 108 and 107. The bombers also often fade out in the second half of the season after good starts, but since Hird is taking a different approach to their pre-season training this time around, it is less likely that they will lose players in the second half of the season, hence, they are a better chance of being consistently competitive. If the bombers finish inside the top 7 or 8, i reckon Stanton can push a 110 average. He just needs to find a way to use that scoring potential for longer periods, and coming into his prime of his career at 26 years of age, i believe that now is the time for him to breakout and be a superstar, and play some more consistent footy. The thing putting many off at the moment is the drug rumours surrounding the bombers.

Verdict: I reckon he will have his best season yet and average 109, is that enough for a premium mid? You be the judge.

Vincent

He looked fit in nab 1 but not quite as fit as last year. He is missing a bit of pep in his step.

the second half of last year killed him for many fantasy coaches he is dead to them :)

but that was more about poor management by coaching staff/ fitness staff than stanton, the whole team went downhill over the back half with a few exceptions.

be a brave pick in DT, be a very brave pick in SC but could be a very good pick too, me i won't start him, with the trades available i can bring him in if he starts the way he did last season, lots of people will jump on if he does....

funny thing will be how FAST people GET OFF him as soon as he has a bad game after what happened last season :)

anyone who takes stanton in SC is a fool

I agree but with an average of 137 after 8 games and this season a truck load of trades some will benefit from taking that "foolish" risk :)

not for me i couldn't handle the stress :)

thanks to about 8 pints of calf blood all the peptides he could get his hands on ;)

Will be a great cash cow! I f you look at his last 2 or 3 years he kills it early then drops off, in my opinion pick him for the first 6-8 weeks then sideways to a super prem after he has made 100k averaging over 130 and before he burns us :)

fever

with extra trades that's ^ not a bad idea (though risky if he decides to flop from the outset, then you're left with a 500k gimp).

This guy burnt me badly last year - bought him too late  :'(

Anyone think he's worth the risk this season? I feel about him a bit like the way a lot seem to feel about Broughton  :o

Was that a subtle peptide reference? Either way it made me laugh.
