Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and I look forward to giving some feedback and getting some feedback on my team.

I've had solid teams in the past few years but cant get past the prelim stage of the season... Just comes down to a little luck..

Feel free to get brutal with my team... thanks!!

Your team possess quite a few too many risks for my liking.

Newman and Fisher may drop a few points again this year.
Could also go for another mid premium to stay with the pack in the early parts of the season.

MC

IMO

Get rid of (at least) one of

Fisher/Newman
Ball/Embley
Broughton/Varcoe

Use the cash to upgrade them to prems or trade them down to rookies.

Most teams have 3-4 def prems/4-5 mid prems/1-2 ruck prems and 4-5 forward prems for a total of usually 14.
You have 7, maybe 8 if you include Fyfe.

Too many mid pricers will see you struggle to upgrade them all before finals time without burning all your trades. I'd aim for 13-14 prems and load up on mid rookies if you're only going for league win.

MC speaks much wisdom here.

a few suggestions trying not to repeat what is already well said.

Varcoe - Byrnes ( cheaper easier draw early )

Newman and Fisher OUT - genuine premium in and a rook in LEWIS STEVENSON

Hanneberry and Embley OUT - ELITE mid in and Wines or other rook into the mids. Keep Fyfe Keep Ball.

I prefer many other rucks to bellchambers, there is the whole essendon saga plus there is ryder and hille

Wellingham OUT - stevie J IN

I heard a rumour staker is out for a few rounds? if so have a look to see if Tom Lee is named for round 1.

and if you do find staker is fit and named for round 1, have broughton and him on different lines ( one fwd one back) use the DPP link

Good luck for 2013.

Ringo

Can not add much more to MC or Colli only to confirm that Staker will be out till at least Rounds 3 or 4. So replace and he becomes a downgrade target around Round 7.

Ditto
Ditto and

But also...

Maybe you need to scribble down a long term plan to get you home this year.

Write down your best guess at top 8-9 defenders and forwards, best 3-4 rucks and best 10-11 mids.

Start working out how to get them in your team by year's end. 30 trades may seem a lot but with your starting team I can see only about 8 guys you'll want by then. That means you need a minimum of 14 more to come into your team. These guys are expensive and often need about 1.666 trades per upgrade.

Add injury, resting, suspension, form slumps and you're in trouble already.

Cash cows make you cash! Get some more of them.

Good luck.

Def: too much depth i would  downgrade newman and get in a Cashcow e.g Goodes or Stevenson
Mids: Not enough premiums but i would could Hannebery Downgrade embley to Wines or Lonergan Upgrade Ball to a premium
Rucks: Little weak here too i would get Goldstein or Sandy into that team or Jacobs as a POD
Fwds: wellingham may be more Suited to Dream team so i think you are better off picking Tom Hawkins or Matthew Wright.

Overall Your team has good depth with a few uniques but is a bit unbalanced due to having not enough premiums in the Mids i rate it a 7/10

Hey guys!!

Thanks for the feedback! Pretty overwhelmed (In a good way) with plenty of tips and ideas. But I appreciate the fresh set of eyes going over it...

With Hanneberry, I just have a feeling that he will do what Dangerfield did last year..

With Newman, except last years form, he is normally very efficient with his kicking.. only problem is he didnt get enough of the pill (I would like to add him in my team at some stage this year... maybe even before rd1... thoughts?

Belly is a POD, I feel he will be the dons #1 ruck.. as I have Cox in the forward line im willing to try this one out

Ive taken all the tips from below and put together a Version 2 team...

New team is much sharper.  If ur not attached to Fisher id ditch him. Getting long in the tooth, more key position than free and has had some discipline issues.  Pearce/yarran?

Gimmie_sven

Yeah.. do you think Fisher will be able to dominate if he keeps injury free... im also thinking what about Goddard out of the saints line up.. would you think he would get more of the pill then?

Pearce would look nice running off half back

Any other players you are looking at that I should be considering?

Colliwobblers

much better team mate and still a bit unique i like it.

I like your thinking on fisher getting a big gain with Goddard out but not sure if he has it in him, maybe see how he goes and you can use him as your first defender upgrade target if he does fire, of course you'll pay more then but safer :)

still he is a point of difference and you have the trades to ditch him if he fails. tho having more trades doesn't make wasting them any less costly as that's trades people who don't waste them then have that you no longer do...  :)

Gimmie_sven

Yeah I agree.. thats not a bad plan!! Ill keep an eye on him and see how he does in the NAB as well..

ill have a play around with him in and out of the team and see what I can come up with and ill post an updated team
