The player i'm most concerned about so far is Leuenberger. Yeah he's cheap at 300k, but if he doesn't show up for round 1 then i'm definitely going to be avoiding him. Achilles injuries aren't easy to overcome, and I worry that with Stef Martin and Longer in the mix, he'll be eased back into the game very slowly.

Good point, guess wait n see if he fronts up in the NAB and see how he's travelling. A lot of people will be scrambling to shuffle their side if he doesnt front up for round 1

Not sure why you would pick Shaw over Goddard.
3 1/2 premiums in defence should be enough to start with this year.

I can see you are looking for value with both Fyfe and Murphy. This leaves you 3 spots for Swan, Danger, Cotchin, Beams, Watson and any other premium who steps up. I think I will grab an extra rookie here.

PS your point about Murphy is well taken. His scoring ceiling is a lot higher than I thought.

Rucks are great but as you've mentioned Leue may be a slow burner.

Forwards are good too with both Buddy and Cox.

Very nice team but
1: what are your contingency plans if you need to get off Leue
2: what will you do when you realise your rookies don't include Wines as an example and you want to jump on. Most of your rookies are quite cheap and you don't have a lot of wriggle room left in you cap. My guess is this is where Fyfe makes way?
3: Goddard will outscore Shaw - almost guaranteed.

Christensen is a safe pick but I think you would get more value out of LaCras. Sandi is too much of a risk I wouldn't go near him, maybe consider down grading him to someone like Goldstein or Jacobs and using the money u save to upgrade Shaw to Goddard. Other than that it looks great!

My reasoning behind a few of my choices:

Shaw: POD. Will be in the top 3 defenders, and seems to be fairly unique at this point in time. Goddard at his new club will take time to adjust, but i'll be looking at him over the NAB cup. With Heppell in my side (who i've been on since he started playing) i'm not sure whether I want both.

Sandilands: Freak. His average from last year is severely affected by his score of 5 where he was subbed out against Richmond. His 3 scores upon returning from injury were: 117, 154, 163. With a few extra trades up my sleeve this year I'm willing to take the risk.

JPK: Still a contentious pick - i'm also considering Beams and Jack for the same spot.

Leuenberger contingency: I'll be in the same boat as most. I would trade Cox into the rucks and free up some cash from Shaw/JPK slight downgrades (saving about 50k ea). Then I would buy a 400kish forward. Otherwise I would somehow try to free up 200k to bring in Goldstein. This is a scenario i'm not overly looking forward to!

Rookies: I realise that i've scraped the bottom in most parts to get cheaper rookies to bolster the rest of my squad. I'm happy with my choice of K Mitchell - I feel that he will outscore Wines this year. Rookies will be rotated based on performance in the NAB cup. Hopefully a few cheaper options will step up and deliver the Goodes! (See what I did there?)

In saying that, i'll take all advice on board, and as I said earlier, will still be tinkering around.
