Lyon is the best spinner in the country and our youngest ever offie to get to 50 wickets, compare his stats after 18 tests with Warney's and you will be surprised how similar they are.

We have to persist with Lyon, long-term
Anyway to see that?

I think Henriques has bowled himself closer to an ashes spot. Here is someone who was reverse swinging it both ways half a pitch and troubling the Indian bats
He also did pretty damn well with the bat. I am liking the look of him so far.

I watched his innings and thought he showed great maturity for a debutant. Rotating the strike to avoid pressure being built

Incredible knock from Dhoni, amazing player to watch.

Really well bowled from Lyon and Pattinson. Lyon started brilliantly and worked hard all day and was the only one who looked like getting Dhoni out, creating a few chances that didn't go to hand.
Siddle and Starc were dissapointing and probably only one should of been playing, but because of the lack of spin bowling depth we had no choice. If only Michael Beer wasn't injured.

A couple of costly dropped catches from Cowan at the start of Kumar's innings and Clarke was lucky not to lose his hand from the catch Dhoni hit back at him.

The series has started off very similar to the series between England and India. England went in with primarily a seam attack, India made 500 and won by 10 wickets. High chance we will get a draw from here.

Next test I reckon Starc will be swapped with Doherty. Batting will stay the same. Even though he has been successful Henriques might lose his spot for Maxwell for another spin option and see the three spinners do a lot of work

iI'm glad your not a selector. Heniques made 68 and is one of our best bowlers currently. He stays. As for the game heading for a draw, well the odds for an Indian win are heavily stoacked in there favour with us 135 runs behind with 2 days to play on a big turner. Agreed we need a 2nd spinner and Doherty seems the option. As for Maxwell what has he done to deserve a test debut. Personally if we change a bowler I would like to go with Bird in these conditions. If he does not take wickets he will go for 2 runs an over max.

I would keep Henriques but you never know with our selectors. Henriques has impressed me that much I have him a certainty to tour England, pure reason he can reverse swing a ball. If anything this tour will tell australia they need to work on their young spinners

Are you saying it has taken them this long to work it out ? :P

Cookie311993

They are still yet to do anything about it though. Should have a couple of youngsters on the Indian tour to work on their bowling in these conditions to better them as a player

Well after that amazing knock from Dhoni looks like we are facing an innings defeat possibly. Will be a wake up call to the selectors that 4 quicks in India does not work.

Also Warner appears to be shot down with gastro, so Watson gets to open with Cowan for the second innings today....

I don't think we ever had a chance in the game after Dhoni scored his double. We definitely need to play Doherty in the next game in place of Starc and I think it is safe to say Moises has secured the all rounder spot after an extremely good pair of 50s. This kid has some talent!

Couldn't see anyof it fox still not working yet :P  ::)  hopefully by wednesday

But from what i've seen on the news that is the worst pitch i've ever seen in Test cricket

lol, just in time to watch the 6th day hey mate :P

it's a pretty showerty pitch, but remember that's exactly what they said they would produce next time we are over there as we were raping them last year ;D

Moises playing absolutely brilliant and has secured his spot for at least the next test. he'd be hoping he can stay not out tomorrow, so he can have a test average of over 100 :D

There's been worse pitches before but it definitely is a rank turner. We should have played another spinner (WHERE IS STEVE O'KEEFE INVERARITY?) The pitch for the next game probably won't turn quite as much, but all the pitches this series will turn quite a bit as that is what the Indian groundsmen have been instructed to make. In every break in this test so far, they have been coming out and putting more dirt on top of the pitch so.....

But Moises is a star and how good has he been so far! I am really hoping he can hit out this afternoon and Lyon can stay with him so he can reach a hundred, get Australia's lead into 3 figures and then we bowl them all out for 80 :D

Nails

I remembered 2-3 months ago I suggested Henriques as he smashed first class but you all laughed at me.

Good to see you're all finally catching up to me ;)

Bit like Brock McLean.
