Cowan has a good technique to defend opening bowlers. But on this pitch there is no need for him. But maxwell and docherty arnt going to help us get more wickets. Lets be serious.. Docherty is awesomeeeeeee one day bowler.. But what has he done in tests really... and maxwell is no better of a bowler that S Smith. Id take Smith before MAxwell. Maxwell is the most overrated cricketer in Australia. If not the world(... Thats if they even rate him)
IPL Teams certainly do

Yeh thats hes game.. He's decent 20/20 players. Either 50off 25 or single figures. No in between for him ha

Well I truly think Maxwell needs to prove himself in the first class arena before he gets a baggy green. Just look at the trail of players that have had a superb first class career and never had the chance for a baggy green. He needs to prove himself to be able to bowl 30 overs grinding out wickets rather than getting 2 for in 4 overs.

What Australia needs to do is follow the West Indies' lead.

Let's combine forces with NZ and like South Asian

and instead of Australia and NZ and other being separate cricket sides

We'll just be called Down Under.

How will combining with New Zealand give us a better cricket team? Maybe McCullum comes in as keeper for a couple of years. But no one else fits into our team.

Vettori still plays tests doesn't he?

10x better than Lyon.

He's been injured for like a year now... Think he just ran away from NZ.

could also bring in Chris Martin to open the batting. 104 innings for a cool 123 runs at an average of 2.36. surely a lock? ;D

Ross Taylor would be handy... Might actual help Clarke seeing as he has experience carrying a team.

I believe he has the best ratio of not outs to outs of any player who has played a fair amount of tests. He obviously is a rock!

Yes and I think Vettori is old and injured, wouldn't be much point playing him. Maybe Williamson would get in ahead of Cowan?

Scrads

I am scratching my head as to what changes I think should be made for the next test.

I think Cowan should be dropped, but he won't be.

I think we need another spinner, but I don't want any of Maxwell, Smith or Doherty in the team. It is times like these I wished SOK was taken over.

Other then that I don't think there are any real changes we could make unless MJ has been bowling well in the nets.

fidou

In all seriousness NZ should be in the Shield they will improve there cricket no end instead of there payers running around in there provincial teams.

Nails

Should find the best U/12s player in the country imo

Will have GREAT experience by the time he's 23yo and should smash it.

Imagine the top bowling coaches in Australia training the best u/12s player in the country for 10 years :o

He'd be a star by 19yo :o

Brendon Julian's opinion:

http://www.foxsports.com.au/cricket/australia/fox-sports-cricket-commentator-brendon-julian-reviews-australias-loss-to-india-in-first-test/story-fn2mcu3x-1226586322909

While Julian believes Lyon still deserves his spot in the side as the country’s no.1 spinner, he thinks Siddle and Starc should not play the second Test in Hyderabad.

"I don’t think Starc should play in the second Test," Julian said.

"He’s a wonderful bowler, no doubt about that, and I think he'll play the first Test in England, but you’ve got to play Mitch Johnson in the next Test.

"Johnson’s a better bowler in those conditions. He bowls so well on flat pitches.

"He’s also very good with the bat, so they’ve got a stronger tail if he comes in at no.8."

I agree, that if the pitch is another dustbowl, Siddle and Starc should be out for Doherty and Johnson based on their performances with both ball and bat (both threw their wicket away when they could of dug in like Lyon).

Also Cowan seriously needs to work on his catching, he dropped a simple catch from Kumar that cost a 130 run partnership.
