Yeah i wouldn't expect to see Colq play too many games this season
Hope not for the Doggies sake. :-\ (SANFL Doggies)
Fridge I've been saying this for a while

Look ill be starting with Mitchell but ill warn you he isnt garunteed success.

Port have a strong midfield. Yes you might laugh port and strong dont go together but we do.

We dont have an Ablett or a Selwood but we have good depth of players all better than mitchell.

Start off with the top teir mids in Ebert and Boak
Next we have Broadbent and Cassisi who both play a sort of defensive mid role and can play a little off half back
We have the new recruits in Monfries and Wines who will get plenty of mid time
Then we have the defense/mids in Hartlett and Stewart
Also have young guys like Jasper Pittard and Andrew Moore who play a little in mids.

Mitchells role in the midfield would be the big ball winner which we dont really need. Boak and Ebert do thos with Hartlett/ Broadbent backing them up most weeks. In the offseason Port lost Danyle Pearce, Chaplin, Surjan and Jacobs all defenders. We also have lost Gray and Salter through injuries. Last season port drafted Pfeiffer after he collected plenty of touches inSANFL. He had huge ball winner huge dt prospect all over him but he couldnt fit into ports mids and was played in backpocket. I think Mitchell might be given a fwd pocket or defensive role which will be better for his footy and the power but bad for his dt output.

Either way Mitchelk is a mature age recruit who will get games, i will start with him but i will warn youse ports midfield is pretty full and cant see him squeezing in there

I've heard from a DT Talk article he's being groomed for a defensive half forward role... showerty scores loom if this is true!

He will get mid time but he wont play most of his footy there. He will ave 50-70 if he plays fwd and or def roles he will ave 85+ as a main mid

Noz

Mitchell doesn't have good kicking abilities and could be quickly exposed in the AFL world. I agree with Fark he won't play most of his matches in the midfield infact I think it would be a miracle for him to play more than 13-14 games.

Ahhh wouldnt of thought his kicking would be that bad.. Seeing as he was the best player in the WAFL. Priddis did win the same award back in the day. He is definately good enough to play in ports shocking side. Eberts kicking is woeful and he is your second best mid? So i think he will be getting plenty of time in the middle/wing/hf

Noz

Unfourtantly not Mitchell is a shocking kick he lacks pentration and accuracy by foot and if he hasn't improved over the pre season he won't play many games, He plays with his heart on his sleeve and can run all day and was deserving of the Sandover medal.Hopefully he has improved his kicking but if he hasn't he might not even make it off the rookie list. Which could be the reason he hasn't been elevated yet.
I expect all our rookies to play in the NAB and we will choose the most impressive one out of the bunch.

Hoskin could be elevated if Hinkley thinks he needs to inject another half backer into the frame.

Question. Are you from South Australia and/or a Port supporter? Maybe this time you should listen to those 2 (Noz and FARK) who actually do follow Port and have more of an idea than you do. :)

Also, everyone on here says that Port is getting some direction to them now, with a new coach, captain and fresh faces. I would like to know why you think Port are still a "shocking" side. :)

well, if he's a WAFL fan he should know substantially more about mitchells ability than a port fan...

just saying.

I'd listen to noz, but you have to cherry pick farks statements- he dribbles so much shower.

I have seen mitchell play alot. As you probably know i did the stats for the WAFL games and almsot half of my games where claremonts so i know where this guy racks up the ball. He is a pack player and alot of his positions are link up handballs.

I say this though people are right he isnt an elite kick by any means but he can find the ball. I would say he is a simlar type player to priddis. So im not sure if port will play him in his true postion. He defintaely has the potential and I think Port should be able to fit him into their 22. If he gets played outside of the role he played in the WAFL im not sure how good he could go.

I would think that he would drift around the ball and probably be in the middle of the packs if he is named.

Not a Port fan. But even a brain dead person knows how bad port are.. They have drafted and played a lot worse players in the past few seasons.. So Mitchell's chances are relatively high!

And yes Zippy knows  :). I am from WA so watched fair few games. He's no Shannon hurn with a sherrin... But he's got enough ability to get a gig in that team! They need some hardness around the ball!

You have to be kidding me right? Last season we lost 2 games by over 10 goals, both of which were in the last month of the year. Port have the 3rd youngest squad aswell, so i wouldn't go saying they have played bad players, just young players. Congrats for knowing about Mitchell, doesn't mean you know where he fits in at Port, which from your last couple of posts, you don't. :)
