LEADING AFL player manager Dan Richardson has been appointed as Richmond's new football boss.

He is the son of three-time Richmond premiership player, Tiger coach, former club president and Hall of Fame inductee, Barry Richardson.

"Dan is an outstanding character and is highly respected within the football industry," Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said on Monday afternoon.

"Further, his talent and experience will be of great benefit to our club."
