Ablett

Ablett costs 740k and i was thinking is he a must have or should you go for someone like kennedy/dangerfield who are 100k cheaper and will still give you a good score every week and therefore can use the cash in a different position
Whats your opinion, will you start with ablett?

Before I go ahead with this, for the record I don't have Ablett in my starting line-up.

However.

He might be 740k, but it's for a good reason. We're talking about a bloke who is far and away the best player at his side, and will always take a huge slice of the points every week for this reason. His average is significantly higher than others that are considered on the same level as him, and has to be considered for these reasons.

And at the risk of beating a dead horse, pumping a dry well and trying to get more blood out of that stone, you're not buying one Ablett, you're buying two.

Every year i think this exact same thought
And every year i cave and eventually put him in

He is just too damn good, his ceiling is absolutely enormous and he is a good lock for the big C every week

Worth the 100k in my opinion

There was a huge debate about Ablett on another site recently  which ended up pretty even with yes and no votes.
For me, Lock him in Eddie, Perma captian.

I'm not starting him this year, will pick him up at some stage, and hope he falls 100K then pounce....

undecided i have swan so ablett is not so important as a captain, if you don't have swan he is a must, but even if you do have swan it will hurt when he scores 160 and you don't have him...

My mid premiums are Ablett, Swan, JPK and Dangerfield - I dunno how I could start my team without Gaz!!

All it takes "Grazz", if for Ablett to get a knock early, be limited for the remainder of the game, or even get subbed out.
Suddenly his BE is huge (and yeah he his capable of reaching a huge BE), but if he dosen't reach the BE he COULD drop up to 100 K over a few weeks.   ;D

GC are gonna improve big time this year. so i cant see gaz dropping that much in price. he was my first picked this year like he has been every year.

This is true mate but your really just on a hope with that scenario, yeh it could happen and that is what you will need to happen for him to drop 100k. If he drops it wont be alot then he'll be rising again. Your going to need alot of trades and money to get him in all the while you'll be selling off your best rookies  to get this cash as fast as possible. I still think if you intend to get him at some stage then start with him while its easy to afford him because you have the money now.
