So can you assure everyone that he will definitely bounce back? Are you sure it isn't wishful thinking because you are considering picking him? If he cost 550K would you be so sure that he'll be good at Brisbane?

Nothing is a certainty. Definitely not wishful thinking though as I probably wont get him. I cant fit him into my structure at his price.
No I wouldnt pay 550k for him. I think he will avg around 90-100 so thats not worth 550k to me.
I see no reason for him not to have good season. He was flying at Melbourne in 2011, had broken out as a top line clearance player then when Neeld came in he was pushed aside because he did not suit the new game plan.
Brisbane picked him up because they need someone to get clearances which is his speciality. From all reports he has had a really strong pre season. I think it is more likely that he goes back to his form of 2011 rather than having another season like 2012

I don't take risks with my mids. It's the easiest way to ruin your team. Risks are for forwards and backs.

In previous years yes, but now we have 8 spots to fill and extra trades you can afford to take a risk in the mids rather than fwd or back

There are risks and there are calculated risks, to me they are 2 dif things

Do enough research and they are soon not risks at all but become great pod that gives you a leg up

Doesn't work out trade to a gun mid rookie you should of had and have 200k for a quick prem upgrade

I disagree somewhat, last yr Hayes was a risk and masten was too, both end up being great initial picks

Yr before fyfe off the top of my head.

Risks are a good thing, just make sure you have a quick 2 trade plan before rd3 to correct

He was terrible at Melbourne and he could be just as bad at Brisbane. That's a lot of cash for someone who might not score better than someone like Wines.

He won the b&f 2 years ago then Neeld came in and decided he didnt like him for whatever reason and played him as the sub and dropped him every other week. He will be back to his best at Brisbane.
I am very keen on him but he is just such an awkward price
He also came equal 7th in the Brownlow two years ago  :o :o
Agree though Quinny, I'm keen but at an awkward price
I'm keen as well - Been really throwing himself into training as well.  Just the awkward price puts you off when both Ball and Embley who will probably score similar are cheaper.

I actually think Moloney comes with less risk than Ball and Embley for various reasons but yep the price tag makes him hard to squeeze in

I've been losing sleep trying to figure out ways to fit Moloney into my midfield. Glad to see experienced heads like u guys are having trouble as well. I am convinced he will raise his average by 25-30ppg. But I don't know who to drop to let him in. Probably Fyfe but I'm hoping Fyfe will become a keeper where as Moloney could b the perfect stepping stone to a fallen prem. dilemmas

I've gone from 5-5 to 4-1-5 to 3-3-4 and I can fit Moloney in because I think he represents less risk thank both Ball and Embley. He will basically be one of their big-bodied-in-and-under-clearance-specialists which in SC gets you points. He is a tad dearer but I think that extra cash goes with the job security.

If you look at previous years...the winners have gone in to Rnd 1 with only 2 "super" premiums. They have then taken chances on 2-3 lower priced premiums who COULD go to "super" status (e.g. Shuey, Gaff, Fyfe, Mundy...etc) and then the rest as cash cow rooks.

Going on this logic...which seems very sound as SC is all about probability, statisitics,a bit of luck and smart trading, my current midfield is:

SUPER PREMS: Ablett, Pendles, Cotchin
POTENTIAL BREAKOUT PREMS/TRADE MATERIAL: Shuey, Fyfe/Mundy (decided going on NAB Cup form), Moloney
CASH COW ROOKS: Crouch, Viney, O'Meara, Goodes

The POTENTIAL BREAKOUT PREMS/TRADE MATERIAL players may not get your Swan, JPK, Danger scores...but guys like Shuey should get over 100 each week...with the possibility of pushing into that "elite" echelon and becoming a potential keeper. Moloney presents the option of a good upgrade to the players I mentioned previously.

That's the logic I've used...feel free to pick it apart...any new opinions will be helpful :)

Ringo

Moloney was very strong in todays intra club trial and displayed enthusiasm at the contests.

If interested in Moloney this article is for you.

If I had the cash would fit him into my team

colmullet

he seems to be looking pretty good just taking a look at the stats from his first NAB hitout

bottlemart

Been watching the game, he's flying.  Locked and loaded.

Mat0369

Playing very well. For a guy who smashed it two years ago and seems to build a great connection with his ruckman for taps to advantage he has to be considered.
