St.Kilda had an intra club match today and Tom Lee apparently didn't do much at all up forward. I personally don't think he's in the Saints best 22 as yet and not sure why everyone's locking him into their SuperCoach forward bench.
He's competing with Kosi, Maister (Beau Wilkes), Hickey and Stanley for a spot in the Saints forward line. ATM I think all of them are in front of Lee and I'm not sure Lee wil be in the Saints team in round 1. May be given games later in the year and could become a good upgrade target though.

Good points. I think fwd rookies are light on so he just seems better than others atm.

That's intersting, thanks for telling us Jroo!

Might not be as much of a lock as we all thought... But who to replace him with? :o

You're right, I think maybe that's why everyone's putting him in. There's no other forward options.
There's only really Staker and Maccafer, I see as good SC forward options atm.

Yeah asides from the more expensive Jake Stringer, Mitch Morton, and Joe Daniher, who are by no means locked in their side's best 22, I don't see many of the younger blokes playing much.

Other options are Membrey, Kennedy, McDonough, Mayes?

Gonna be tough to pick the right ones :o

That said, it was an intra-club match and the NAB Cup is still to come. If he plays well and impresses then, he may get games. No offense JROO, but I don't think there's enough reason for most to jump off him just yet based on you personally believing he's not in the best 22 jusy yet.  :)

I still reckon him and Stringer are the pick of the forward rookies, I'm still not sold on Daniher...

Ringo

Kerridge may be an option looks like he has been doing OK at Crows.

Fair enough, there are still some Nab Cup games and if he does play well there, he might be given a chance.
I'e just heard from a few Saint supporters that Kosi, Masiter (Wilkes), Hickey and Stanley are all in front of him ATM.
But, hey I'd love to be wrong. I think he may score alright if he's given a go and I have Lee in my AXVS squad  :P

Well, Kosi doesn't have much in him and will probably play less and less, and Hickey's more of a back-up ruck option for Big Ben McEvoy. That leaves Beau and Stanley, who are both not the most reliable...which is pretty much my justification for picking him for now, NAB Cup form pending.  8)

From what Ive read around different sites JROO may well be right, some are even calling Lee "Fools Gold". This came as a bit of a surprise to me but certainly set off the alarm bells as looking around at a lot of pre season teams Lee was in at least 85%-90% of them including mine. A Lot of water to go under the bridge between now and rnd 1 when we will have to have all our rookies locked in but it sounds like he has a lot to do still to cement a spot and isn't the lock rookie we were hoping he would be.

"didn't do much at all" is an overstatement - never seen a player look so lost on a footy field.

Despite the fact that he didn't perform, he's still definitely worth keeping more than one eye on in the NAB cup.

Here's why. He's a mature aged rookie - clubs don't recruit mature aged rookies with the view to playing them in 12-18 months time. They're recruited to fill a role that needs filling, now, and as such he can be expected to play a decent number of games this season.

Will he play round 1? I don't think so, and it might be smarter to cash a rookie in for him later on. Still doesn't mean he'll score well persay, but given the lack of rookies might be serviceable cover.

Was he really that much of a penguin in the desert?

I'm still backing him...but I'm now keeping an eye on Jake Neade and Sam Kerridge.

So is everyone going to jump off him because he did flower all in an intra-club match?
