It is either Goldstein or Mumford for my first ruck pick alongside Leuenberger. Who do you think will have a better season and will they be averaging 100+? With mcintosh going to geelong i figure Goldstein will be at his best! And Mumford having a strong pre season he will be ready to fire this year.

With Mummy's dream start you'd have to go him

I'm leaning more towards Goldy... However...

I am interested to see what impact these new ruck rules will have... For example, Mummy won a lot of hit outs by out muscling his opponents at ruck taps around the ground and boundary throw ins (especially on the confined space of the SCG). Now ruckman cannot make contact before the ball is bounced/thrown in, I think this will really suit the more mobile ruckman and may be a disadvantage to your mummy type ruckman which may hinder his scoring.

NAB cup should give us an indication

Mumford has missed 16 games in the last 3 years, whereas Goldstein has missed only 4, so if you want someone who will miss plenty of games thru injury like last year, then go mumford.

But if you want someone who will play almost every game and still give you very good scores, then go for Goldstien

Goldy is safer but Mumford has the higher ceiling IMO

I'm going Mcevoy 8)

I've got Goldy at this stage - Mumford just comes with a higher riks (injury, suspension, maybe new rules impact).
Can't say I'm particularly excited about Goldy but he does smash it when he's the sole ruckman which.
Note: also easy as to "handcuff" with one/both of the two Roos cheapies - that's a solid tiebreaker for mine.

Neither. Pay the extra and get a gun like Cox. It'll be worth it.

Cox should be picked in the fwd line imo.

I would go with Goldy over Mummy only due to the fact that he doesnt miss so much football. Both will avg 110+ if fit though

SydneyRox

agree you should be playing cox in the fwds, assuming you have berger to protect.

mummy over goldy, will end the year as top3 ruck

Big Shane Mumford.  I see his name pop up every season, and how he's going to finish in the top 2 or 3 ruckmen for the year, but he never does.

He's a very important player to Sydney, and one that they will want to be right for the finals, and the grand final if they get there again, which the swans are every chance to do so, especially with kurt to come back in R12.

Big Mummy played R1 last year, then he was a late withdrawl for R2, then he played R3, and then missed the next 6 games, came back in R10, Sydney had the bye in R12, then he missed another game late in the season.

surprize, surprize when on the morning of the grand final, big mummy was in doubt.  He went into the biggest game of the year with hamstring soreness.  Sydney played him because he is so important to their team, but he was subbed off after having little impact, with a SC score for the day of 34.

When fit, I have no doubt Mumford would be a great SC scorer, so by all means, if you think this is the year that mummy will play almost every week, then pick him in your line up.  Just make sure you have a good scoring back up Ruck 3.

When everyone was on mummy last year, I advised against picking him, and said at the time that Cox is by far the best ruckman available in SC and has bene for a long time.

I have Cox in my fwd line, and i'm tossing up between sandi and goldy to share the ruck with berger.  Still like sandilands but my only concern is his durability this year.

Mumford may be a good option for some. Not for me.

SydneyRox

your right bottle, mummy is not without risk, but the majority of his games missed last year wsd due to the reaction to the injection. tgst isnt going to happennthis year. Mummy has shown he can be one of the best fantasy rucks and his price is just too attractive

got to risk it for the biscuit

Capper

Rucks are the most injury prone though Bottle. Mummy got a back infection from the back injections he was getting.

Sandi is a bigger risk than Mummy

totally agree, im goign with Big boy and Mummy at this stage in SC

GM

I would prefer to risk it with Sandi than Mummy.
And Goldy.

Fair points SydneyRox and tabs.  I honestly hope mummy proves me wrong, and good info provided on why he missed all of those games.  I didn't know the the reason.  I'm just going on past history with Mumford, and his ability to string games together.

I have always liked the durability of Coxy, and therefore have alweays been happy to pay the extra price for that certainty.  I liken it to buying CBA or CSL shares, as compared to buying riskier Babcock and Brown or ABC Learning.

I hope mummy strings a full season together because he has the ability to be a very god player when fully fit.

I agree that you have to take a risk in SC, but i'm with greenmoon on this one, where if I am going to take a risk I would rather take the risk with Big Sandilands.

Time will tell, but valid points made by all.

Cheers

Craze

I would go Goldy - as touched on earlier, he doesnt have much competition apart from Petrie (who is their key fwd anyway) no other ruckman on their list has played an afl game yet.
Where the Swans have Mummy & Pyke sharing the ruck and later on Kurt Tippet will come in and take some ruck time aswell.

Though if you have the extra $$ McEvoy could be another option.
