DEFENCE -
Goddard,Gibbs,Grimes,Yarran,Goodes,Pittard  (Stevenson,Terlich)

MIDS -
Ablett,Pendles,Watson,Cotchin,Fyfe,O'Maera,Viney,Crouch  (Jones,Colquhoun)

RUCKS -
Mumford,Leunberger  (Rowe,Currie)

FORWARDS -
Cox,Pavlich,Bartel,Martin,Varcoe,Macaffer  (Daniher,Lee)

Weak backs on purpose. More points elsewhere. Would get H.Shaw as first upgrade. Wanted Christenson but Martin and Fyfe for similar prices kept him out.Would love a fwd/mid dpp link in mids. Rookies are interchangeable of course. :)
Also wanted Sandliands but couldn't afford him so Mumford gets a gig.

Pretty solid team ubeaut!

- Not sure about Yarran. We've seen what he can do, but I wouldn't expect him to play the exact same position and role with the a different coach.
- I would say your rucks are too injury prone. Both of them have a history of injuries; so, especially with Mumford at that price, I would look for at least one ruckmen with no recent and big concern over injury (i.e, that played most of 2012 well).
- I think your forward line lacks fire power. I definitely cannot guarantee Pavlich's owrth this season, and while Varcoe is a good F5, Bartel and Martin, especially Martin, are not the best F3 and F4 respectivelly.

- I would consider downgrading Watson (if the Essendon drug bust ends negative for him or the team), or otherwise Cotching or Fyfe, then using the money to trade Mumford, then upgrade either Bartel or Martin depending on salary.

Nice Team - Picking up on your comments I would be tempted to drop Yarran back to a rookie as well.  just trying to decide whether I have the gonads to go with only 2 prem defenders myself.  Reason only 4 defenders Goddard, Shaw, Scotland and Waters scored more than 100 and none more than 102. So I'm thinking if I strengthen other lines scoring wise may be in front.

Def - have commented on with Yarran above.
Mids: Solid
Rucks: Sound - know Mumford out of necessity but think he will struggle with new Ruck rules.
Fwds: Solid Pav recovering from off season surgery so would watch, not a bartel fan but personal.

Good luck

Def: Team is pretty much set i like your defence as 3 premiums i believe is enough.Chris Yarran good pick at D4.
Mids: Great Mids with Fyfe at M5 who i think will join the Elite mids if he can stay injury free.
Rucks very good as long as Mumford stays on the field and is not suspended
Fwds: Prefer Rockliff than Bartel but apart from that you have a Solid forward line

I think this team will be fairly competitive i give it an 8/10

Cheers guys. Love the input.

If BARTEL gets back to more mid time I can't see why he can't be in the top 5-6 forwards. PAVLICH is a massively underated superstar and I always pick him, eventhough he started slow last season he still was gold at finals time.

MARTIN is a risk but has the talent to score well. With Tigers improving (I can see them making the 8) and so much attention on Lids and Cotchin all he has to do is work harder and the 100s will come.

Worried about the ruck rules with MUMFORD, but b4 Tippett plays there will be ample goals to be kicked by a resting ruckman. He is such good value for what he can do. With Mummy and Leuy costing 785 for 2 potentially premium rucks it is alot cheaper than 1200 for a Nic-nat/Cox/Ryder/Sandilands/Maric combo. Would rather Sandilands but can't afford him.

Anyone else? :)

Good team. Very risky picks with Grimes and Mummy but both could pay off

Good luck :)

You've been a busy ratings boy so here's your reward.

Priceless advice - yes, that's right - you get what you pay for so priceless.

Def - no dramas here. Grimes is set to play more mids so if stays well could score a lot better than his value. Yarran needs watching under Mick's game plan during the Ansett Cup. If he roams and links then stay on. Look to get Shaw and Waters and laughing within 6 rounds.

Mids - 4 superstars AND Fyfe - I think you're potentially missing that extra top rookie who will make a lot of money but not lose too many points for you since you'll be able to make some up when you get the big Docker!!

Rucks - Mumford no. Go McEvoy / Jacobs but Sandi is better.

Fwd - I agree that this looks an old and potentially weak line for you. Cox yes but maybe you need to pick only one of Pav / Bartel / Martin or 2 at the very most. Walker / Hawkins likely to smash games again and of course how could we forget Buddy!

Pretty legendary team though.

RedCats

Only a couple of changes I would make. I seem to be on the band wagon here with Mumford. Seems to get himself suspended for something stupid every year, as well as missing a few games with injury. Mind you, I seem to have last years emergency ward in my side so I'm not one to rule out a player who is injury prone.

I would move Bartel out of the forward line. He is an awesome player, yes, but out of any player in Geelong, he will sacrifice his game the most when needed and in doing so is a risk of getting some reasonably low scores for his price. I would imagine him to play largely in the backline this year and occassionally float up forward with the likes of Caddy, Duncan, T. Hunt, Christensen, Sheringham etc. Set to get a bit more midfield time this year. (Yeah, I'm a cats fan!). At least you know he won't get the red vest if you decide to keep him!

Staker is now in serious doubt to stay in anyone's team, Macaffer would be the obvious replacement IMO.

Not convinced about Pav but I have been waiting for him to drop off for a couple of years now, so goes to show how much I know. Would much prefer Buddy at not much more. A lot of people are concerned about the Hawk's start to the year, but if Buddy's on fire it doesn't matter much who he's playing.

Overall, I like the rest of your team although I think the forward line probably needs a little juggling. Good luck!

My thoughts are:

DEF: Really like all your selections here. Fingers crossed that Grimes can remain injury free, he is training without any restrictions at the moment.

MIDS: Very nice midfield. Can't fault it. Hopefully Fyfe can score enough to be a keeper.

RUCKS: Not a fan of the Mummy pick. He is so injury and suspension prone. I think Goldstein is a better option at around the same price now that he is the undisputed number 1 ruck at the Roos.

FWDS: A few odd picks here that I wouldn't go for. I think Bartel is on the decline and there is much better valued players at around his price. Pavlich has had an interrupted pre-season so would look elsewhere. Also, bad boy Martin is not worth the risk in my opinion. Hopefully Varcoe can remain injury free and provide some decent scores before becoming a cash cow.

Seems not everyone is buying into the 'NicNat' ruck rule interpretation.

A while back, a discussion went around that more mobile ruckmen would be better off with the AFL announcement about ruck contact.

Goldy, Mummy, Jolly etc looked like suffering as a result.

Any thoughts you wise and learned gentlemen?

Is your most up-to-date team the one in the OP?

Yes that's the team. I will get Zorko for Pav if he's not ready. Also liking Moloney as a cheaper M5 to have 130 K extra to spend. Not sure where tho.

Mumford is so cheap, and capable despite the new ruck rules. He will be semi-unique and even if I have to upgrade if he only avg 90-100 its still a bargain.

Bartel I have only seen in 1 other team. he is a Brownlow medalist who had some niggles last season. He will play mids at stages and lifts in big games (and the Cats have a tough start) and is a match winner. When I started playing Supercoach people were picking him in the MIDS. I know his role may have changed and he has peaked but he is a superstar. He is priced fairly highly for a forward so he must have scored well enough last season, and I rekon he will slightly improve in SC output.

I am now toying with putting in Moloney over Fyfe for cash and fitting Zorko in there somewhere. What do u think? Where else could I use the cash?
