Has it in him but will have stiff competition

Yeah Rox, it'd be HARD for him.

Nah seriously, unless he has a massive nab I reckon Lecca, Nico, Hill and Hams are all ahead of him though for a couple of small fwd spots :)

Well, it can't be argued with: The Eagles have Big Cox, the other teams don't have Dick!

every year it seems 1 or 2 extra players are added to the midfield group. Surely he is just being trained there to build up some skills rather than actually play in the midfield. At some stage they should stop calling it the midfield group and just call it the group.

LOL, yeah, cant see why he would spend lobg amounts of time in the midfield

Its modern football, a big pack of 36 midfielders following the ball around the ground.

new article is up on AFL website regarding a possible role change, also has been rumored on fanfooty that the role could happen

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-02-05/sharrod-can-free-up-scott
QuoteScott Selwood was still having some tight run-with roles last year. We can free him up at times and use Sharrod in that role.

also to back up with some info on Darling :)
QuoteJack basically ran with our midfielders in their 2km time trails, so he can cover the ground as a roaming forward as well

http://www.sportsnewsfirst.com.au/articles/2013/02/05/dean-cox-in-finger-surgery/

"IMPOSING West Coast ruck star Dean Cox is likely to miss most of this summer’s NAB Cup action with a nasty finger injury. The reigning All-Australian big man will be sidelined for up to a month after surgery last week to a compound fracture in a finger."

"It is believed that a “best case” prognosis for the powerhouse on-ball enforcer is that Cox could make it back into playing in time for West Coast’s final NAB Cup clash against Port Adelaide in Alice Springs on Saturday March 9 ahead of the summer competition grand final a week later."

What you Cox owners going to do? Keep or let go?

hardnut

a finger injury means fitness is no problem and a player as experienced as Cox will know what's required to get match fit. I don't think it changes things too much but not having exposed form does have to make all owners nervous for >500k

Artax

Should be ok, tempted to run with Maric or Sandi

Andrew

Starting to reconsider. Don't want Cox to be compromised going for marks, luckily I think it's his left finger so his kicking should be ok. Hopefully it's nothing but will have to watch all that closely when he plays in the NAB.

elephants

Dislocated fingers aren't usually massive deals especially with a month and a half until the real stuff kicks off... It did break the skin though so its clearly pretty bad...
