Master Q

Hey guys, Master Q here. I'm going to open up my annual  analyser, something that I have been running each pre-season for 3 years now. It's a bit like those player comparison threads, you ask me who to pick out of 2 (or more) players and I'll give you my honest opinion!

I will be mainly posting at night, if I get behind I will lock the thread and catch up.

Thanks
-Q

Shoot  :)

Bang!

nah seriously

Varcoe v Christensen
nah you shot him, he can't answer you now.

hope you're happy cic, you've ruined this thread for everyone.

Master Q

Hey Cic, thanks for the question.

I have to be honest, I doubt I'll be taking a punt on either - but here are my thoughts.

Varcoe
1. At 234k he is great value
2. High roof
3. More midfield time
4. Can be inconsistent - In 2011 he scored below 60 on many occasions

Christensen

1. Lots of hype around him
2. Another 16 games in 2012, comes with more JS and experience
3. Gaining consistency, but still not at Premium level
4. Priced at 381k makes me wonder if he is worth it

Overall, I'd have to opt with Varcoe. Should score around the same + he will gain you an extra 100/150k

Varcoe, Byrnes or Knights
Thanks for the question e2.

I'm going to rule out Byrnes out immediately. Definitely not a fan of him.

That leaves it between Knights and Varcoe.

My thoughts on Knights -

1. Obviously has potential. Has averaged 80+ in the past.
2. New team at Richmond; so makes him a risky option, however I am confident he will improve on his 2012 form, even though he only played 4 games.
3. Priced at 254k, awesome value.

Overall, I'd say take the punt on Knights. He's worth the risk as if he doesn't perform you can just trade him out before Round 3. I'd still consider looking at downgrading/upgrading him though  ;)

Windigo

Name your top 5 rucks for 2013?  ;)

Premium priced ones.  :)

- Thanks Q.

Robbie Gray ?

Also I have Goddard, Gibbs, Waters and Birchall.

How can i fit Grimes or just leave him out?

Cotchin or Deledio (POD)

Assuming premium priced means all but rookies  :P

1/2. Sandi and Cox
3. Berger
4. Maric (Will probably average less this year though, high price as well)

After that I say it gets a lot tougher - Hmac could explode in an awesome Geelong team, Goldstein too according to all the hype flying around atm. Also Roughy but I have a weird feeling he won't perform like he did in 2013.

Noz

Evening Q,

Luke Brown (Adelaide) V Rhys O'Keefe (Carlton) V Nick Vlastiun (Richmond)

Brown could be in line to replace Doughty.
O'Keefe the bigger body half back defender with a ripping kick could replace Scotland in the first 2 games.
Vlastuin has impressed Hardwick so far but is there a spot in the Tigs lineup.

Thanks for the question mate.

Wouldn't take the chance on Robbie Gray. Way too injury prone and inconsistent.

Think Waters will be a black hole this season, wouldn't start with him. If you are really keen on him then drop Birchall obviously.

Haha that's a toughy. I reckon Cotchin is a safer option, but Deledio has been a gun this season, so if you want him as a POD - Go for it  ;)

Hey Noz. A rookie question, great  :P Watch NAB cup, but that's a given.

I think the safe bet is Luke Brown. I don't know the Crows in and out like some of their supporters do on the forum, but there are a few holes in their line-up which he could easily fill. As for O'Keefe, I'd steer clear. Don't see him getting many games IMO, but a good NAB cup could definitely knock on Mick's door. As for Vlastiun, I think I agree with you there - very good player but I wonder if he'll play the first few rounds.

Hope I helped Noz, Rookies aren't my best area  :P  ;)
