Hmm, I'm really not a fan of Hanley in DT and I'm too sure sure why. I think it's because I hate inconsistency - he had like 10 scores under 68 or something. :-\ I know he should improve on his consistency, but I still don't see him averaging 90+. I reckon around the 85-88 range at this stage.

Stanley may have only played half a season last year, but he averaged 88 from like round 7 onwards in 2011. I think he should lift his average to the 93-96 range with increased midfield time and his elite consistency is why he is sitting at D3 for me.

Yeah, this sounds like it to me! I'm not on this Hanley hype reeeeally...

you should be. Jump on.

Tominator's Team - Version 3.0 - $5,800 in the bank

DEFENDERS
Brendon GODDARD, Bryce GIBBS, Dyson HEPPELL, Greg BROUGHTON, Jasper PITTARD, Sam DOCHERTY

Bench: Brett GOODES, Dean TERLICH

MIDFIELDERS
Dane SWAN, Gary ABLETT, Matthew BOYD, Nathan FYFE, Ollie WINES, Jesse LONERGAN, Jaeger O'MEARA, Jack VINEY

Bench: Brad CROUCH, Nathan HROVAT

RUCKS
Hamish McINTOSH, Matthew LEUENBERGER

Bench: Jack FITZPATRICK, Daniel CURRIE

FORWARDS
Dean COX, Steve JOHNSON, Tom ROCKLIFF, Nick RIEWOLDT, Luke BREUST, Chris KNIGHTS

Bench: Brent STAKER, Brent MACAFFER

QUESTIONS

1. Out of Ablett, Boyd, Pendlebury and Cotchin, which two should I grab? Pendlebury as underpriced, then ablett. If you need the cash desperately though, boyd > ablett

2. Is Hamish McIntosh a good first ruck or is Nic Naitanui a better choice? I hear both are injured atm tbh... Hmacs is wayyyy less severe than nic nats though- don't start with a bloke who's almost certainly missing 4+ in the HA season...

3. Is Joe Daniher a better pick than Brett Goodes? I could play Staker in DEF if I dump Goodes or Pittard (then get Daniher or Lee up forward)
When in doubt, go goodes. :P Seriously though, he's not recruited at that age as a project player, he's recruited to play. He showed a bit in the indigenous/ richmond game. Danihers just too light to make much of an AFL impact yet.

4. What do you think of my team ? It's... ok.
B: Can't really fault them.
M: pretty much the same- might get burnt with vests though a bit, + if ball/ embley start off on fire it's going to hurt.
R: interesting/ reasonable. Fitzpatrick + currie over witts, daw and  grundy is a bit unique. Not sold on it though.
F: Not a fan of nick rieowldt. A bit in the air over knights, like the punt on breust, not sold on stevie J either,

Hanley over Birchall? Maybe only on price.

Hanley > Birchall in price, ceiling, less of a chance in being affected by team composition change (how exactly does lake fit in for the hawks game plan?), team improvement (obv. lions have more room to improve than hawks). Only thing birch really has on him is consistency.

Hmm, I know for a fact that you've never been a fan of Birch though Zip.

Sylvia + J.Neade (or any 108k rookie besides Lee)
Or
Byrnes + Knights/JJK/Varcoe (and who?)

Byrnes and Knights easily

Based on averages and JS, option 2 seems the easy choice... but Sylvia has the potential to become a keeper, whereas Knights and Byrnes won't go beyond 80.

that's true- ive always just seen him as an average dter, without much potential for improvement.

I assume you can only just afford the sylvia combo...

brad dick maybe instead of neade?

I'm going combo one. As you said- sylvias a keeper, byrnes and knights aren't. You get the, at best, 160 from byrnes + nights, but you get 95 from sylvia meaning you only need 65 from your rookie- completely viable. And that's a best case scenario for byrnes + knights.

Average DTer? He averages 90 and he's average?
should have high lighted he was a defender.

firstly, he averages high 80s.

secondly he's not a top 6 defender. Only by one rank, but by a 3 ppg average, putting him in a different grade to true premiums- average is a bit harsh, but quasi premium at best. Nonetheless, average is not unfitting, if you believe he doesn't, as  I do, have much if any room for improvement.

Similar scenario with midfielders. Stanton isn't a premium, he's a quasi premium at best- he's also not in the top 8 mids (9th by 3.8 ppg).

Rucks are a bit different with injuries etc. But lets face it, cox and maric were a league ahead of everyone else.

Forwards are the only real place where it was a bit more blurred between premiums and not with a more general graduation. However, pavlich and zorko at around equal 6th makes a noticeable gap between them and rockliff.

rambled.

point stands.

say no to birchall 2013.

Yeah, cheers. Ok, one more for you.

Murphy (M5) + M.Jones + Neade/Dick (haha need dick)
OR
Embley (M5) + Wines + Sylvia

Ziplock

option 2. Murphy has a bout 15 points on sylvia, but embley probably got 15 points on jones and wines a good 10+ points on neade/dick imo.

So, we've had the first round of NAB, any other questions people?

Fyfe + Sylvia + Viney + Selwood + Moller (non-playing rook for 20k extra)
vs
K. Mitchell + Robinson + Varcoe (DPP Link) + Cotchin/Boyd (whichever you think is better) + Gorringe + like 20k

cheers zip.
