I like.

Pencil in H Shaw for your last def upgrade (unless he starts killing it and looks like going too high - which I doubt) for after round 13.

Watch the form of the others who seem popular like Duffield, Grimes, Heppell even Broughton since you'll need one, maybe 2 - H Shaw later as above.

If Shuey and Fyfe go big, then three of Swan, Cotchin, Danger, Watson etc is all you'll need. Easy so far.

Leue to Jacobs or McEvcoy.

NicNat and one of Tex or Hawkins into forward line if de Boer fires.

Then you'll have 18 trades left and you'll win the big prize.

Good luck.

Haha...if only it were that easy :P hopefully it is.

BUT...that's basically what I'd want to do :) that's how I've thought about it anyway :)

Hey coaches.

Due to Goldy and Buddy not impressing me...changes have been made.
Here is Team v.1396...and a half lol

Questions:
Still not sold on Martin as yet...still looking at Wright and de Boer. Thoughts???
Will Tex get a double team like big Drew Petrie always gets? and if so who would you replace him with?

Jay

Nice team.

Like the 4 backline premiums. Likewise with the mids, have 3 of the absolute top ones along with 2 who could get there by seasons end. Rucks and Forwards are great, not much too say really

Rookie choices are fine, monitor Van Unen and Colq closely in the NAB, not sure if they will lineup early

Go with your gut on Martin mate. I think he will become an elite player eventually and this could be his year, has potential to go 100+ easily.

As for Tex, he will be winnings games off his own boot this season - he wont be stopped. Huge bargain at 530k IMO, he is in for a big one

Cheers Jayman. Had Martin the last 2 years...hasnt really fired, but each year you just think "maybe this year..." haha

Van Unen and Colq are in there simply for my BYE structure atm. Nothing rookie wise will be confirmed until late before game day...match 1...round 1 :P

I agree with all of this but I don't like Shuey, what if all those Free Kicks for for ducking his stupid head turn into free kicks against for going in low - seen this happening in the nab cup.

hopefully they crack down on that lifting your arm to force a high tackle shower and ducking your head and deliberately running into tacklers head on to win free kicks.

this guy is the worst offender.

RANT OVER - I would pick many players at his price over him. Sloanne Redden being the front runners but not sold on redden just yet either.

GREAT LOOKING TEAM. Shuey should be fine :)

Haha nice rant Colli. I see what you mean though.

M4 is still up in the air...and people are SLOWLY turning me to Sloane, even though I have a feeling Shuey will step it up this year haha

Thanks for the comments and said rant :P

Hey all,
A few slight changes to the last team:

Shuey to A. Swallow - more secure 100-110+ scores rather than hoping each week.
Currie comes back in for Daw
Neade back to Dwyer (for cash mainly)

Thoughts compared to the old side???  :)

very solid side.
4 premos in the backline who'll finish in the top 10 DEF's.
4 premo mids & fyfe. nice. I prefer priddis but thats just me.
big sauce will be a beast.
if you aint sold on martin get wright. i think he will up his avg to 95+
tex is a monster IMO will go 105+

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!
A hoy there all coaches. The final week is upon us before the 2013 season gets underway and we're all frantically chopping and changing out teams.

Here is ALMOST my LOCKED and LOADED ROUND 1 TEAM (still waiting on squads chosen before set 100%) but I'm pretty happy with this team and would love some input/opinions from the best coaches out there (you guys!).

Notes:
Backs: 3 Prems + Newman (almost prem as he CAN push out big scores). I think Newman will have a new lease on life this season and good scores will follow. I raelly rate the man. He was captain at the club for Pete's sake! haha

Mids: 3 Ultra Prems (Gaz, Pendles, JPK), 2 Prems (Scooter and Fyfe), 1 smokey (Lucas) and 2 rookies (O'Meara and Crouch). The top 3 will punch it out as they always do. With Wellingham brought in at WC this year, I reckon he'll get that shutdown role Scooter had freeing him up (as seen in the NAB...he looked good) and Fyfe is elite when fit (my pick for at least 1 Brownlow in his career if he can put a whole solid season together). Lucas...the BIG risk. Looking back at PowerToThePeople's 2012 opening side, he went with Parker who made him a great amount of cash. Under Mick I reckon Lucas can do the same, I'm willing to take a gamble here. Rookies are your basic 4.

Rucks: The Big Sauce. Solid, Solid, Solid. That's all I can say. Longer will/may change depending if Leuey is fit for Round 1. May also look back into the FWD/RUC swing and throw say a Roughy or Jenkins in there. This is the line I can't decide on and it's driving me (and I'm sure...all of you) NUTS. Ideas here will be greatly appreciated.

Fwds: 3 Prems (Coxy, Tex and Rocky). Then it gets interesting. I've gone with a Guns n' Mids approach. Gus Monfries: everyone gives the kid a hard time and was one of the whipping boys at Windy Hill. There was NO place for him there. At Port I reckon he will slot in brilliantly and has shown signs in the NAB Cup. He's showing himself to be and inside mid as well. You can see he's working on it. Also he most likely won't get the tag with Boak, Hartlett, Ebert, etc. in front of him. Using him for quick cash generation and might keep him around if he shines (like Porps last year). Karnezis: i like the kid. Looked good through the NAB and now is in the mids. Will improve and score well for his price. The boy can find the pill. And finally the old fella, Shannon Byrnes. Picked him over Varcoe based on price alone. I think he will score just as well and will make money rapidly.

Anyway I'll stop blabbering. That's my thoughts behing choosing this team and I'd love you hear yours.

Fire away!!!  ;D
