Thanks for the rate barnsey :)

I feel like there are A LOT more informed coaches out there who can lend some advice/rates :P

Rate and comment in return coaches :P

Couple of comments on latest team

Been staying away to let others comment so as not to have a Ringo induced Team.

Do not think you need the extra back prem so long as you pick rookie defenders are playing - Will allow upgrade quickly.  Yarran may become a keeper even but be prepared to upgrade if needed.

Reason I went with Tomahawk over Stevie J is Stevie is 30 and his scores have decreased last year and wondering whether will continue this year,

Still have concerns with Martin whether he will tease or actually finally realise his potential this year.  Other Forward options at around same price are Breust, Wright, Robinson as examples.

RosscoFagan

Liking the backs worried about Bock though...Mids very strong, Rucks not sure what all the fuss is about Goldy...there are better options out there, forwards are good but don't think Broughton can rise to premium status.
Back: 7/10
Mids: 9/10
Rucks: 8/10
Forwards: 7.5/10

Jay

Good team, pretty stock-standard but the unique of Hawkins help balance this out. Think he is in for a big year

Good luck :)

t.thomas6

Thanks for the comments guys. You're all gems...every year.
Rosco...I think you were looking at my initial team...go a page forward :P oh and feel free to comment again :D

PICCOLLO

Plenty to like.  Fwd rookies are the only issue.  Thought about varcoe?

t.thomas6

Cheers Piccolo. Had Varcoe in the team I made before I posted on here. The talent is there no doubt. I'm just wondering if he can find some consistency and it also depends how/where he's used...but he IS in my sights still :)

I chose Staker and Maccafer because of mature age and both can play. If one doesn't start Rnd 1, I'm sure (hope) Lee will haha
Kerridge is reportidly ripping up the track pre-season hence his pick. I had him last year and he only played 1 game :( so this year should/hopefully will be better haha

Any other ideas for rooks?

t.thomas6

Oh I forgot to ask. This goes to ALL you coaches out there :)

Would any of you risk bringing Fyfe in at M5 (into the midfield i have now) in the HOPE he shifts gear this year and BECOMES a premium mid and then upgrade? If so, then WHO would you swap for him?

The reason I ask is that the money saved could be used to bolster my FWD's or DEF's...and I really rate him.

LET ME KNOW COACHES! :P

Ringo

I would have no problem with Fyfe at M5, However in your case with the 5 prem mids you have it would be difficult to chose which one to downgrade.

Basically the decision will come down to how many points changes made will benefit say you downgrade Cotchin to Fyfe.  Cotchin say 120 ppg and Fyfe say 85ppg down 35 points.
Say you bring in Varcoe for a rookie forward question is will Varcoe gain me more than 35 points than rookie.  If yes changes warranted if not do not do.

Isn't it fun working out structures. In your case I would probably sit with what you have just my opinion though.

t.thomas6

Thanks again Ringo. Very insightful as always :) I'm just not sure if both Staker, Macaffer, or Lee will get game time EVERY week.

What do you other coaches think???

Ringo

Just remember you only need 7 to play 6 on field and one emergency.  Just watch NAB cup a forward could jump up.

Personally I expect McCaffer to play every week as I think his forward pressure is an integral part of Pies forward press. Staker if fit will be in Brisbane's best 22.

t.thomas6

Yeh that was my thought on Staker. Macaffer I wasn't so sure. But thanks for clearing that up Ringo :)

Any other thoughts coaches? Can any of you think of any possible tweak I could make? Got to get this rating to if not a 10 then a 9.5 haha

Another few questions coaches:

1) Birchall v Hanley: who would you pick and why?
2) If I picked Hanley over Birchall, then I could manage Lewis over Martin...thoughts?

Discuss... :P

t.thomas6

Hey guys.
I keep hearing that successful teams of years past have gone with less "uber premiums" than I currently have now. They have decided to go for (with the old format) no more than TWO ubers (>$600k) then a few premiums that could have a "breakout" to move up to "uber" status followed by maybe a mid-pricer who could rise to premium status a few rookies (cash cows).

QUESTION 1) What do all you coaches think of this strategy compared to the say 5 ubers and 5 rookie idea that is being bandied around this year???

On that note..here is another team I have prepared that may just fit this "other" strategy:

DEF: Goddard (MID), Gibbs (MID), Birchall, Yarran, Vlastuin, Docherty (Terlich, Colquhoun)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Cotchin, Shuey, Fyfe, Wines, O'Meara, Viney (Crouch, Goodes (DEF))
RUCK: Goldstein, Leuey (Rowe (FWD), Currie)
FWD: Cox (RUC), Rockliff (MID), Hawkins, Martin (MID), Varcoe (MID), Macaffer (Lee, Kerridge (FWD))

Salary Cap: $108,500

Reasons for the chosen players:
- Backline is basically the same (Vlastuin has shown some really good stuff intraclub)
- Shuey has basically been trending up with his yearly average SC scores. Fellow players regard him as the best mid at the club and I reckon he could have a "breakout" year to hit "elite" status.
- We all know how good Fyfe is. He is basically elite when he's fit. If he DOES get injured I figure we have extra trades for a reason (could always do a straight swap with e.g. Mundy)
- Staker swapped to Varcoe (just due to injury, but that may change if he recovers for Rnd 1)

QUESTION 2) If i go with this team...where should I use the extra cash?

QUESTION 3) Team 1 or Team 2???

RedCats

Just throwing this out there, have you considered a bit of another option if you are looking at another up and comer. Shuey isn't a bad call for this, but a cheaper player and I would think similar scoring with more profit margin if required may be Cunnington? Considering this option myself so am eager to think what everyone else thinks.
