ATHLETIC Brisbane Lions ruckman Matthew Leuenberger has completed his first full training session since tearing his achilles last April.

The 204cm West Australian got through an entire session with his teammates at the Lions’ training ground at Coorparoo on Thursday night to signify another big step in his comeback.

Leuenberger started the 2012 season with achilles tendonitis, but in round three against Fremantle suffered a slight tear.

What he thought would be a six-week injury turned into a season-ender.

Would be interesting if he didn't play round 1, just because he is everyone's biggest lock.

ehhh, hodge was quoted on  DTtalk saying so long as you can complete most of january onwards you should be right for round 1.

There are a number of threads on Berger but for information he has been training solidly since the Christmas comeback.  Joined in the match simulation this week and although appearing a little tentative at times completed all drills.  With a couple of NAB cup games to gain confidence should be OK.  Bergers training program is also being managed this year to keep him going.

As an aside Longer has really bulked up in the off season.

Berger is a lock in my team.
