Even more doubt he will make round 1

COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley says star midfielder Dale Thomas is still a "couple of months away" from a return, as he battles to prove his fitness before the start of the season.

Thomas has been significantly hobbled by an ankle injury throughout the Magpies' pre-season training, which stems from off-season ankle surgery.

The latest timeline puts in doubt Thomas's ability to be ready to face North Melbourne in round one on March 31.

Might be better off trading him in as an early upgrade I'm thinking. If he has a few slow games to start with he may drop enough in price to trade in for a rising mid-pricer

Varcoe to Thomas for 100k at about rnd 8 sounds like a pretty good plan. One day my pre-season plans might not be out the window by rnd 3 too!

Sabretooth Tigers

How about a sideways trade after rd 7  De Boer for Daisy ???

Would be a very popular choice if fit - upgrade target for me

Should make a very nice upgrade target for everyone.
