Kaino's Kamikaze's - Please advise

HI Guys,

Advice on first team of the year please (2013):

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Birchall, Bock, Staker, Docherty (Goodes, Van Unen)

Mids: Ablett, Pendles, Watson, Cotchin, Fyfe, Whitfield, O'Meara, Viney (Crouch, Mitchell)

Rucks: Mumford, Leunberger (Vardy, Rowe)

Forwards: Franklin, Cox, Rockliff, Kennedy, Varcoe, McCaffer (T.Menzel, Willams)

Cash: $5,700

Was hoping to squeeze Dusty or Le Cras in forwards, but looks like I've come up abit short.

Any advice appreciated.

bock will be underdone. just be careful.
whitfield is a bit expensive, more better options out there.
solid 4 premo mids + fyfe. Nice.
Franklin has a few tough 1st games
JJK could be handy.
a little light in the fwd premo's mate

those are just my thoughts.

Rooks will depend on who's named rnd 1.

backs - 8
mids - 9
rucks - 9
fwds - 7.5

Geelong - 89.6
WC - 115
Collingwood - 104
Freo - 81

for a guy thats worth almost 620K 80ish IMO is not good enough, but hey thats just me.
he isnt starting in my team but by mid year he'll definitely be in.

No rookie comments only based on value.

Def: Bock is risky for Round one so would be looking at him for an upgrade target early.
Mids: Solid prems - and as has been said Whitfield is a bit expensive for making cash,  Possible better options. Wines or Lonergan better options but watch NBA cup form.
Rucks: Gamble on Mummy playing full season but with 30 trades worth the risk Berger will be in most teams.
Fwds: Solid - But if you downgrade Bock to a rookie and Whitfield may enable Kennedy upgrade to Martin.

What are people's thoughts on Byrnes - Good cash cow with strong JS?

Updated team as follows - I've loaded up on my backs at the moment and I'm aware that my forwards are a bit light on atm -

$23,800 Available.

Backs: Goddard, Hepp, H.Shaw, Gibbs, B.Goodes, Pittard (Terlich, Vlaustin).

Mids: Ablett, Pendles, Danger, Cotchin, Fyfe, O'Meara, Wines, Whitfield (Viney, Crouch).

Rucks: Jacobs, Luey (Currie, Rowe)

Fwds: Cox, D.Martin, Le Cras, Varcoe, Karnezis, McCaffer (Byrnes, Staker).

Other possible solutions are: Koby Stevens or K.Lucas in place of Whitfield in the mids.

I think I've loaded up on the gun rookie players in the mids who fingers crossed should be the best cash cows. I know my  fowards aren't great at the moment, but I believe I have good cover across all lines ready to trade in a few prem forwards at first opportunity.

What do people think?

its okay. But your FWD line is to weak. Needs to be fixed b4 it xan be competitive 6/10

What do u suggest then Sammy.

Downgrade some like a heppell and put another prem forward in mids.

Or downgrade Luey to someone like Witts and use the coin to upgrade to another prem in fwds?

Staker is injured again & will be a good downgrade option early in the season hopefully.

Staker least of my probs though - U think I should put an extra prem in my fwd line from either backs or rucks or just leave and upgrade at 1st opportunity?

You should downgrade H.Shaw (don't think he will improve much this year and possible upgrade target) to a rookie eg Stevenson. Then upgrade Byrnes (way too much money to be on the bench) to Buddy or any other forward you like. Then that puts McCaffer onto the bench. If you went to Buddy then you could also upgrade Varcoe to JJK. I think you side will look much stronger all over the ground this way.

About another month i think but not to sure, they wont rush him back.
Could be worth swapping Shaw or Heppel to Luke brown or Stevenson & then upgrade one of your fwd mid pricers like Varcoe.
Swap Staker to Neade.

Rucks: Jacobs, Leunberger (Currie, Rowe)

Forward: Franklin, Cox, Rockliff, Le Cras, Kennedy, Karnezis (Macaffer, Neade).

I'd take Goddard over shaw.
