Hey guys.

Just wondering if any of you more intelligent folks could come up with some fundraising ideas for me and my church?

Basically every year in September 20 of us go to the Philippines for 2 weeks as minssionarys and do work for a village over there. 15 adults and 5 kids go, me and my sister have gone both year and the other 3 places are reserved for kids who dont yet know Jesus from our Youth Group, 4 outta those 6 have gave there life to Christ on these trips. This is happening again this year but we are out of ideas to fundraise the money. it was gonna be Freddo Chocolate Boxes but I kinda kept the box in my room, didnt sell it, ate it all and didnt pay :-X

Just wondering if any of you guys have used anything that has been a roaring success in the past?

Cheers

How big's the church? You could have a concert or something for a night at the church that's what we do, does the church have a band?

Sell @ say $2-00 > 45 numbers being X Lotto draws First supp out = $30, 2bd Supp out = $15, = $45 raised. Can be done weekly, every draw, or if plenty of interest more than once on the same draw.

Not much but hey every bit helps.

Koop just a quick question.  A number of churches are opposed to gambling and is your church one of these.  If so it limits your options some what.

If a non gambling church maybe run a talent scheme where you use the talents of church member to sell to the community maybe make jam and sell, cook cupcakes and sell, crochet items on order etc.

If not averse to gambling run the lucky $50 number board.   What you do is seal a $50 note and list the numbers 1 - 100 and get people to pick a number for $2 when all numbers sold open the sealed envelope and the person who has chosen the three numbers corresponding to the last 3 numbers on the $50 note gets the $50,  Makes you $50 each time you do it.

we did something similar with all 3 state of origin games last year with the first try scorer from each team. sold 169 tickets @ $2 each and then each ticket has 2 numbers a home and away number. The person that has the winning numbers got $100 and the club pocketed $238 for each game

Have you looked at a movie night. A local cinema may sell you say 25 -50 or more tickets for quite a discount and you resell them at say for e.g $5 over normal price. Then arrange a pre show nibbles and tea/coffee at the cinema as part of the price and thank every one for supporting your cause. Nibbles and stuff may be able to be donated or made by your fundraisng committee.  You may be able to make around $10 - $15 on each ticket. and if you can sell 50 - 100 it may be worth looking at. Your local cinema may even have a info pack on how to go about it. We used to do them once a term for the High School and picked new releases and on opening or next night of release. The theatre gave us a space and put out tables and a hot water urn. They were very popular. Meant we could advertise a couple of months in advance of the event and people could arrange around the date. No one ever asked for a refund even if they didnt make it on the night as it was a fundraiser. I always felt they were a good social night as a bonus. I suggest you dont consider giving alcoholic drinks as the licensing laws have to be considered and it gives snipers a reason to whinge about the event.  8)
