Hey guys been on the drawing board again ... and again ... anyway put together a team with alot of input from here so see what you guys think ... rookies will be looked at around nab cup times but yeah ... mid field is probs a bit stacked and i know alot of you are steering clear of marty clarke but i think he might step up a bit after his efforts in the vfl late last year.

Defenders
Brendon Goddard, Jack Grimes, Bryce Gibbs, Marty Clarke, Jasper Pittard, Brett Goodes, Dean Terlich, Sam Colquhoun

Midfielders
Dane Swan, Gary Ablett, Dayne Beams, Brett Deledio, Marc Murphy, Oliver Wines, Nick Vlastuin, Brad Crouch, Jaeger O'Meara, Jack Viney

Rucks
Dean Cox, Matthew Leuenberger, Daniel Currie, Liam McBean

Forwards
Dale Thomas, Jarryd Roughead, Dustin Martin, Travis Cloke, Jake Stringer, Brent Staker, Sam Kerridge, Tom Lee

Clarke is a bit left field. Honestly if i was looking for a mid-pricer to fill this at spot I'd risk it on a atley type player over clarke. Personally id down wines and vlastuin for cheaper rookies and up him to a bottom tier premo (ie. heppel, duffield, hartlett).

Thomas is in doubt for round 1 and will be touch and go, I'd be more inclined to go with a premo who has had a full pre-season.

Cloke???? I'm not a fan of him in DT very inconsistent at his starting value he may offer some upside. But i feel he may cause more headaches than its worth. Seen a few sides with him in it, bit confused if i was looking for a player in that price bracket id consider christensen, le cras, jetta, sylvia.

Other than that i think you started with a pretty good base. best of luck.

yeah i was just reading about daisy might just swap him ... premo forwards have let me down a bit so i thought mid to premo range would be better ... cloake ... well your right he is hit and miss ... its a risk i know especially when most of collingwoods mid fielders kick goals too but he does take alot of marks ... unsure on him myself ... good advice on downing the 2 rooks and upping clarke ... might look into it ...

cheers for that mate

Ricochet

wow very unique.

BACKS: The 3xGs are very solid. All three should go 95+. Agree with owen on Marty Clarke. He's never averaged more than 72 and is a very awkward price. Pittard and Goodes will both score similar to a cheaper rookie, I would downgrade both to someone like Docherty or Prudden. Obviously NAB will give us a better indication of which rooks will play round 1, but by bringing in cheaper rooks you save a bit of cash allowing you to upgrade Clarke.

MIDS: Have absolutely no problems with your mid premos, but again i think you can save some money on your rooks. Wines is 156K and Vlastuin 147K. By swapping both to say B.Crouch and T.Mitchell (both at 108k) you will save cash for the Clarke upgrade.

RUCKS: Perfect, Cox will kill it early on with NicNat out and Leuy is, well, in everyones side haha.

FWDS: No love for Rocky? Had a terribe year in 2012 and still managed a 95 average. Expect him to go 105+ this year. Roughy is a great POD and Dusty should take that leap that we are all waiting for. Ok onto Cloke... Yes he is underpriced but he has only ever gone 90+ once. Have you considered Silvia? Priced similar but he has gone 95 (2008), 96 (2009), 88 (2010) and 90 (2011)

Well there you go bud. Hope this helps

St8iZ85

yeah cheers mate that is helpful ... i mean saving money on rooks might help to have a bit in the kitty to upgrade on or two as well ... this team has had more praise than my last 2 attempts so makes me a bit happier with it ... might have to look into the m clarke and cloake thing ... i guess ive got collingwood eye's only cos ive been a life long supporter but dream team has made me look at individuals over my team ... i guess i just have hopes they will do well but i guess i'll have to put it aside or just take the risk on them ... does anyone really think ball and embley will fire up this season and early??? cos im thinking if i free up cash and get them in they might be the mid price that might jump in price that im looking for ... those 2 are the most likely but im hesitant mainly for embley ...

St8iZ85

Ok so looking into it i down graded clake for ellis mainly cos i like the 3 premo back and forward with 1 mid range and then rooks and hopefully if ellis keeps consistent rather than stand out at that price than not much is lost ... i feel ellis will be more consistent than clarke at this point ... i moved goodes to the mid main reason is i would like at the least one link to the back line and he is the only def/mid that seems to be able to play straight up or at least mid season.

In the mids i down graded my rooks as suggested to make room for ball .. just cant go past the price and he should get back to form at least a quater of the way threw and knowing me i'll miss that boat when it comes so i've aloud him to be my mid price mid while keeping all my premo's and getting goodes here for the reason above

Rucks obviously just leave cant think of anything better up there plus the link for roughy to come up is something im stoked with just for that peace of mind

in the forwards i canned cloake and opted for knights as mentioned above i think 3 good players and a mid ranger might be a good idea ... Krak was my other option but ill wait for the NAB to see how he goes ... zorko got moved out for rocky but not sure on that yet ... might just wait for the NAB again to see what he is like ...

so there you go ive finally got a team im remotly happy with and think its fairly solid ... any more advice is taken into consideration ... no deaf ears here as this is my 3rd year of dream team and im loving what it takes to get a good side going ... just getting advice from the people who have put their input in and reading what people say about other teams has made me see alot of things i overlooked in previous years and am greatful to all advice so cheers

ps i still have $97,800 left ... could get buddy in for rocky but im a bit iffy on buddy this year ... maybe if he pushes up to the mid field alot in pre season might look into him

Justin Bieber

Hate the choice of Marty Clarke or Brandon Ellis.

Woudl prefer like a Bock tbh.

Andrew

If only Ellis was a $20-30k cheaper, I'd be all over him. But really for $150k more you can get a proven DEF premium, or for $180k less pick one of the many likely rookie-priced DEFs.

Maybe Ellis -> Staker then use the money to upgrade a FOR rookie. Murdoch and Kerridge have to be speculative and not sure on Stringer's job security at Hawthorn either.

St8iZ85

hmmm nab cup tonight ... guess i can keep my eyes open for a few good rooks

stew42

Pick Rowe over McBean. Rowe is faaaar more likely to get games, as McBean is built like a tall twig.

Staker is out for 6-8 weeks and wont play for a while.

not a bad team, i wouldnt have Goodes in the mids though, keep your mids as pure mids. Move Goodes back for Ellis and get someone like O'Meara.

I have never heard or Murdoch will he get a game??

j

There are better mid prices than Clarke such as Otten, I'm not sold on pittard ATM either. Your mids and ruck look great. Your forwards need work there are better forwards than Daisy,Cloke, and Martin for similar prices.

Chopps

Liking the backs, only issue i have is that mid priced player its a hard place to fill, i currently have vlastuin in that spot.
on backs. goodes to the back line is a good idea imo yes Dpp is useful but we also have two trades everyweek so i'd suggest the value is somewhat diminished.

mids i am liking, Deledio is a good POD and ball should be a good pick. i think with moving goodes to the backline you got to have o'meara in your side

Rucks very good, probably just change mcbean out again i m not sure of the value of dpp here because while you could move roughy to the rucks for cover mcbean then uses a spot on the forward bench leaving it light on.

nothing wrong with this forward line. only thing is maybe look at macaffer if he gets a run he is rookie priced and we know his scoring where as we dont with the rest.

cant say i ve seen much on murdoch? got any info you can share  :P
