QuoteMELBOURNE recruits Chris Dawes and Shannon Byrnes' immediate impact at their new club has been rewarded with inclusion in the Demons' nine-man leadership group for 2013.

The Demons announced their leadership group on Friday after an extensive process involving players, coaches and staff.

Jack Grimes and Jack Trengove have retained their roles as co-captains, while 2012 club best and fairest Nathan Jones has been elevated to vice-captain.

I know, its crazy.

I find it weird that new recruits can come straight in and be a leader at a new club with new teammates. I guess it just shows the quality of character that these two must have.

It's more so that these two have both come from successful clubs, with great leaders. They have been able to watch and now pass on the skills that they had on display at premiership powerhouses of Collingwood and Geelong.

Only concern I have is a nine man leadership group - Think 9 may be a bit many for a leadership group.

One thing it does mean is that Byrnes is obviously in the best 22, but still not startable
