FREAKO'S CLASS OF 2013- 2ND/3RD YEAR PLAYERS

Jarrod Witts
On the assumption Ben Hudson is purely at the club as a backup, we think he is second in Collingwood's ruck passing order. Expect him to debut at some stage this season after he was used in the ruck and attack last season in the VFL, averaging 12 disposals, 13 hitouts and one goal per game.

Tom Mitchell
The wraps on this kid is huge! He dominated in the NEAFL last season, averaging 27 disposals per game which included collecting tallies of 35 and 42 along the way. He has been a ball-magnet across his junior career, averaging 32 disposals across all competitions.

Jed Lamb
Lamb is one of only two first round draft picks not to debut from his draft. Injuries ruined his first year at the club, but last season he managed 17 matches in the NEAFL, averaging 19 disposals, four tackles and more then one goal per game.

Sam Docherty
There is no bigger certainty than him lining up in Round 1 this season if he isn't injured. He averaged 21 disposals per match in the NEAFL last season and demonstrated that he can find the ball, racking up 30 plus twice.

Billy Longer
His opportunities at senior level this season will improve if newcomer Stefan Martin is used in a key position post instead of the ruck. He impressed when he lead the ruck brigade between Rounds 7-9 last season, averaging nine disposals, three marks and 29 hitouts per match.

Tom Ledger
The time has come for the Saints to inject some youth into their midfield and this kid should be at the forefront. He was sparingly used at AFL level, but he excelled in the VFL averaging 24 disposals per game, collecting at least 20 in all but three games.

Hayden Croizer
He managed three games mid-year, but a season-ending illness prevented him from featuring any further. He showed plenty of promise in the WAFL, averaging 15 disposals, four marks and two goals per game.

George Horlin Smith
After managing three appearances in 2012, expect him to be given more opportunities this year. He showed plenty at VFL level, averaging 22 disposals, four marks and three tackles per match.

FREAKO'S CLASS OF 2013- MATURE-AGED PLAYERS

Dean Towers
A late developer, Towers is likened to Hawthorn's Isaac Smith for his blistering pace, with the Swans using their first pick at the drraft for his services. He's not a noted ball-winner, averaging only 15 disposals per match in the VFL last season, collecting more then 20 three times. Despite this, he's definitely a cash cow worth considering.

Daniel Currie
After failing to debut in his five seasons with Sydney, Currie will be looking for that elusive first game in 2013. He was one of the most dominant ruckmen in the SANFL last season, ranking fourth in the league for hitouts won. He averaged 11 disposals, two tackles and 71 points per match, making him an ideal pick for your bench.

Dylan Van Unen
The Bombers added to their defensive stocks by drafting Van Unen. He played 18 games for Frankston in the VFL last season, averaging 14 disposals per match, reaching or exceeding that mark in half of his games. He's unlikely to play in Round 1, but he'll definitely be in the mix for a debut at some stage

Matt Jones
Like James Magner and Tom Couch before him, Jones will be looking to force his way into Melbourne's midfield at some stage this season. He was a solid performer for Box Hillin the VFL last year, ranking second at the club for disposals and kicks and sixth for marks.

Dean Terlich
A rookie listed player with Sydney in 2008, Terlich has spent the last four seasons in the SANFL. He was a solid performer across half back last season, averaging 21 disposals, six marks, three tackles and 84 points per game. He starred in the Grand Final, racking up 31 disposals, 14 marks and 140 points and now looms as a decent cash cow for your starting squad,

Nicholas Kommer
Kommer will add great depth to Essendon's list this season. He played 15 games for East Perth in the WAFL last year, averaging 19 disposals per match, racking up 20 or more seven times. The Bombers have shown in that past that they are inclined to play older players, with the likes of Micheal Hibberd, Mark Baguley, Nick O'Brien and Corey Dell'Olio in recent seasons.

Lachie Whitfield
As the No. 1 pick his starting price is high, but don't let that deter you from picking him. He has been a consistent ball-winner across his junior career, averaging 22 disposals per match. He dominated at last year's carnival, collecting at least 26 disposals in three of four matches to average 99 AFL Dream Team and 141 SuperCoach points per match.

Ben Kennedy
His dual position status will make him a popular selection this season. He was the leading ball-winner at last year's championships, averaging 26 disposals per game, which included racking up 36 in his first outing. He also had an impact on the scoreboard with 9 goals, the most of any midfielder at the carnival resulting in an average of 129 SuperCoach points.

Matthew Wright: Slipped under the radar last year and looms as a smokey choice. Labelled 'Unique'

Brisbane
Jack Redden: Is now a gun. WIll be a great scorer in all fantasy games this season. Labelled 'Gun'
Mitch Golby: A smart, neat defender is a good description. Bit of a smoky. Labelled 'Keep an eye on'
Claye Beams: There are a few signs that this guy may make it. Don't cross him off your list. Labelled 'Breakout'
Jack Redden: Is now a gun. WIll be a great scorer in all fantasy games this season. Labelled 'Gun'
Josh Green: At the moment he is a better option than Banfield for the Lions. Probably avoind him in fantasy. Labelled 'Keep an eye on'
Pearce Hanley: Numbers are slightly better than Tadhg's after 5 seasons. He's a genuine option in fantasy. Labelled 'Unique'

Carlton
Chris Yarran: Fits the mid-priced stratergy perfectly. Will be a very popular pick. Labelled '2012 Under-Performer'
Chris Judd: Still a good pick in fantasy, but no longer a must have. Labelled 'Gun'
Mitch Robinson: Could really improve under Mick. Keep in mind as a possible unique pick. Labelled 'Unique'
Jarrad Waite: Hasn't played 20 games in a season since 2008. A risky selection at a big price. Labelled 'Crock (Injury Riddled)'

Collingwood
Heath Shaw: A gun in both forms of the game. A must have as far as I'm concerned. Labelled 'Gun'
Travis Cloke: Will start the season underpriced. Definitely worth a spot in your starting side. Labelled '2012 Under-Performer'
Steele Sidebottom: Loses DPP status so he becomes even more unique this season. A solid pick-up. Labelled 'Gun'

Essendon
Brendon Goddard: He is still a gun. He's the big name the Bombers just had to land. Labelled 'Gun'
Dyson Heppell: As a DPP this guy is a must have as far as I'm concerned. Get on board! Labelled 'Unique'

Fremantle
Nathan Fyfe: A star! My smoky for the Brownlow Medal this season. Umpires loved him last year. Labelled '2012 Under-Performer'
David Mundy: Big chance of jumping into the elite this season. Get on! Labelled '2012 Under-Performer'
Matt de Boer: I'd imagine Rossy loving this guy. Big spike last year and could even spike again. Watch closely and definitely consider. Labelled 'Keep an eye on'
Paul Duffield: Bounced back last year. Clearly Ross is a fan. You could do worse. Labelled 'Unique'
Aaron Sandilands: Injuries are a worry, but when fit he is one of the best ruckmen available. Labelled 'Gun'

Geelong
Allen Christensen: A unique DPP to consider. Expect another steady rise in numbers. Labelled 'Breakout'
Travis Varcoe: If he makes it through the pre-season I will be making him one of my first basement-priced players. Labelled 'Returning from Injury'
Josh Caddy: Back home, therefore a happy Caddy looms as a breakout contender. Labelled 'Breakout'
Nathan Vardy: I won't be picking him this year. Look for another ruckman. Labelled 'Future Pick'
Billie Smedts: Not a fantasy option this year. Look elsewhere. Labelled 'Future Pick'

Gold Coast
Danny Stanley: Given he is a defender this season you should seriously consider him. Labelled 'Unique'
Greg Broughton: 'Rossy' had no respect for us fantasy players with Broughton last year. Expect him to be back to his best under 'Bluey'. Labelled 'Recycled'

Greater Western Sydney
Jonathan O'Rourke: Has a lot of class. Will probably perform better in SuperCoach in his early years. Labelled 'Cash Cow'
Anthony Miles: When put in the middle he finds plenty of the ball. It's up to the coaches to trust him. Labelled 'Keep an eye on'
Setanta O'Halpin: Will miss most of the year through injury. Pass. Labelled 'No Deal'

Hawthorn
Josh Gibson: He's one key defender you don't automatically cross off your list, especially in SuperCoach. Labelled 'Unique'
Brian Lake: His output seems to be on the slide in fantasyland. A new environment may correct this . Labelled 'Recycled'
Cyril Rioli: What a gun. One of the best small forwards going around. Jump on. Labelled 'Gun'
Liam Shiels: A big chance to return to his 2011 form. Labelled '2012 Under-Performer'
Shane Savage: I was all over him going into last year. WIll be a bargain if he can ditch the substitute gig. Labelled 'Breakout'
Jordan Lewis: Has dual position status and scores well. A unique option. Labelled 'Unique'
Luke Bruest: Everything this bloke does is quality. If he gets more of the footy, look out! Labelled 'Unique'
Melbourne
Colin Sylvia: I'm still waiting for him to step into the elite category. I'll give him one more change. Labelled 'Unique'
Mitch Clark: All will depend on how well he recovers from injury. If he fires in the pre-season he has to be in the mix for SuperCoach. Labelled 'Unique'

North Melbourne
Sam Gibson: He was our saviour for much of last season and will continue to find plenty of the ball. Labelled 'AFL Dream Team Gun'
Mason Wood: Give him a year or two before he can make an impact in fantasyland. Labelled 'Rookie (Just Drafted)'
Jordan Gysberts: He's been a massive disappointment considering the Demons invested pick No. 11 on him in 2009. Labelled 'Recycled'
North Melbourne
Jack Ziebell: He's going to come out one year and tear the competition apart. Could this be it? Labelled 'Breakout'

Richmond
Dustin Martin: Big dip in form last season. Expect him to bounce back in a big way. Labelled '2012 Underperformer'
Ivan Maric: Ranked as the second best ruck in 2012, but his mullet was clearly No. 1. Honorary mention, Tex. Labelled 'Unique'
Chris Knights: Like Ivan Maric, he could come out and exceed expectations this season. Pick him if he's fit. Labelled 'Recycled'

St Kilda
Nathan Wright: Not likely to have much of an impact this season. Labelled 'Rookie (Just Drafted)'

Sydney
Harry Cunningham: Sucked many in at the start, ala Relton Roberts. Don't trust him to play this year. Labelled 'Rookie (2nd/3rd year hasn't played)
Tim Membrey: Impressive numbers and has delievered in finals. Can it translate to AFL? Time will tell. Labelled 'Unsure'
Ryan O'Keefe: He's 32 but the body appears to be pretty strong. A nice safe pick. He does lose his DPP status however. Labelled 'Gun'
Luke Parker: His numbers will explode if he gets full matches. Labelled 'Breakout'

West Coast
Mark Hutchings: Cash Cow. Labelled 'Cash Cow'
Sharrod Wellingham: Scores will improve but he won't be in the elite category. Labelled 'Recycled'

Western Bulldogs
Shaun Higgins: He'll have to play 22 H & A games before he can be considered. Labelled 'Gamble'

Interesting write up on Mitchell. Yeh he is a gun and a ball magnet. But his time in the NEAFL was limited last year due to knee problems. he was time managed in his first couple of games and then thrown on ice when he got some knee tedonitis

Would not be that confident on Docherty though - Who will he replace out of Hanley, Adcock, Golby who I think will occupy the HB positions with Rich and Harwood also in the mix. He is not a FB and these positions will be filled by Merrett, Maguire and Patful.
