Updated team as of 20-1-2013

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Gibbs, G. Birchall, G. Broughton, L. Osborne, J. Pittard (S. Colquhoun, D. Terlich)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, D. Swan, S. Pendlebury, D. Mundy, A. Embley, K. Mitchell, B. Crouch, J. O'Meara (M. Jones, J. Viney)
RUC: S. Mumford, M. Leuenberger (B. Grundy, D. Currie)
FWD: L. Franklin, D. Cox, T. Rockliff, S. Johnson, L. Breust, B. Macaffer (B. Staker, T. Lee)
CASH LEFT: $1,500

Don't really care about bye structure, I'll deal with it when I have to.
Rooks will change after NAB Cup.

Any suggestions?

MC

Cox in forwards, may as well have a dpp link fwd/ruck with him. Not sure about Breust as f4 - would be more comfortable with him at f5.

Not a bad team though mate.

Capper

Watch Daniher, i think the bombers are planning to bring him in at some stage this year just not at the start of the season

Otherwise not a bad team

Ricochet

Really think you need to get Gibbs in there somehow. Malthouse has already said he will play in the middle this year.
Can see him going 105+

Might put in a DPP link, depends if any r/f rookies are named round 1. It'll either be Cox or D Thomas or Buddy.
I'll either start a mid setup like this or a 4-0-0-8 leaving extra cash to put in another forward. All depends on rookies though.

Yeah I've got him just for his price atm, can downgrade to pretty much any rookie.

50/50 on Gibbs at the moment. Have the cash to upgrade Broughton or Duffield to him. This will probably end up being a '5 minutes before lockout' decision.

Had a play around, came up with this:

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Gibbs, G. Birchall, G. Broughton, L. Osborne, J. Pittard (S. Colquhoun, D. Terlich)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, D. Swan, S. Pendlebury, D. Mundy, K. Stevens, K. Mitchell, B. Crouch, J. O'Meara (M. Jones, J. Viney)
RUC: S. Mumford, M. Leuenberger (B. Grundy, D. Currie)
FWD: L. Franklin, D. Cox, T. Rockliff, S. Johnson, L. Breust, B. Macaffer (B. Staker, T. Lee)
CASH LEFT: $108,500

The first team or this one?

50/50 on Gibbs  :o There's two locks in the backline this year, Goddard and Gibbs, he will have a huge year.

I like this one better mate, top forward and back line, i like the rucks, and possibly with that extra cash, to slightly strengthen the mids, upgrade one of those rookies to Wines, or even Jesse Lonergan.

I like the look of your updated team.

BACKS: Broughton the only concern here for me. Just not sure how his scoring output will be at GC. Plus he's burned me before so I'm a bit biased. Goodard, Gibbs and Birchall all excellent picks.

MIDS: All great choices here. Mundy the value pick of the mids this year.

RUCKS: Not sure about Mummy, very rarely does he string 22 games together.. both injury and suspension seem to keep him
out of the side for patches during the year. Luey is a good value choice.

FWDS: All great picks here. Breust is my smokey this year. I don't know if I have the balls to start with him but I will be watching him closely that's for sure.

8.5/10. Nice side mate.

Ringo

Very solid updated team.

No comments on rookies but with this team select the right ones from Round 1 you are on your way.

Def: Nice picks and do not mind Broughton at D4, Watch suns use in NAB cup
Mids: 4 prems only - Would use extra cash to see if can get another mid price prem Ball or Embley.
Rucks:  Solid With both Mummy and Berger having injuries in the past would be tempted to use a R/F rookie so you have the added flexibility with Cox.
Forwards: Very solid line no issues. Do not mind the speculative pick of Breust as he may get mid time with Hawks.

Call me crazy, but there's something about Gibbs I just don't like. Probably start with him anyway...

Broughton burned me last year too, just think at GC he'll get a much better crack in the mids. I'll be starting with Breust, gotta try at least one risky pick. And Mummy i'm still not sure on, will wach his NAB and see how he goes.

I'm going to get a copy of the Prospectus when I can find one and actually do some research into the rookies this year. Too many good options, gotta somehow find the right ones. Can also go Stevens - Embley which would leave me with $1,500.

tbagrocks

There's something about Gibbs I don't like either, could be the fact his dad played his 200th game in 1990 which wasn't good enough seeng the AFC was formed in 1990 for Bryce to be eligble for the father son to Adelaide, robbed blined >:(

Bigger rip off than Lance Armstrong >:(

Don't believe me? the others, West Coast, Port, Fremantle all have the Father Son rule from the SANFL/WAFL dads being up to the year they entered the compentition

Therefore Adelaide should have Gibbs seeing Ross Gibbs had played 200 games before 1991 >:(

Anyway mate nice looking team not to much to change :D

He's in my side. However this is the third year in a row we've heard this, play in the middle.

So I agree Rick O'Shea but are you suggesting Ratts was a liar & you believe Mick!!  :P

haha i dont believe any coaches. And tbh no-one will know but Carlton. Gibbs is a classy player and plays his best footy in the middle. Mick will know this, but at the end of the day its what is best for the team.

Only two changes for mine:  rethink Mumford, too much risk; and I'd go for a stronger M4, maybe a Cotchin or Watson.   Don't see Jobe in too many teams, could almost be a good POD.
