I see a lot of people selecting Cotchin in there "fantasy" sides this year, so I decided to do a quick number crunch and analysis between Cotch and his deputy Deledio. Both scored pretty much the same all year, so i decided to look at their Standard Deviation to measure their consistency, and also when they had a purple patch.

Standard Deviation
Cotchin: 21.11584
Deledio: 21.49539

Purple Patch (games/avg/sd)
Cotchin: 10/119.5/18.9                       (rd 14-23)
Deledio: 9/118.55556/22.1986           (rd 2-10)

Once again each player is pretty much matching eachother.

Interesting Notes
Cotchin was tagged in more games then Deledio.
In both meetings against Freo, Crowley tagged Deledio holding him down to 78.
Cotchin's lowest score was 61 compared to Deledio's 77.
Both scored under 100 only 5 times for the season.

After reading posts on Cotchin some people predict that he is going to breakout and score 115-120 this season. I disagree, he is now going to be the captain for Richmond, and he will definitely receive the number 1 tagger, in which will return approximately a similar scoring season in 2012. I see Deledio outscoring Cotchin this year, his environment is not changing, compared to Cotchin's and especially if Freo tag Cotchin over Deledio.

So if you want a POD in your "fantasy" side this year, go with Deledio ;)

It takes a pretty good tag job to stop Cotchin. I don't think Freo would waste time on him when they already know Crowley can negate Deledio.

Cotchin for me. Deledio at the peak of his powers and Cotchin with plenty of improvement left, I think Cotchins natural progression will make him a better option then Lids.

Just remember where Rockliffe, Selwood and Murphy's natrual progression took them ;)

Cotchin for sure. No way I'd pick lids as a pure mid. Why? He is much easier to tag. Cotchin has far more improvement left in his game where as lids has pretty much hit his peak. Yes Cotchin will get no.1 tag alot of weeks, but teams like Freo know it is much more effective to tag lids. Guys like Cotchin,GAJ,Kennedy,Watson,Pendles, all get tagged most weeks but still score well. They are superstars.

Imo and maybe a very bias one, Dangerman is just the ball winner of Cotchin, Cotch is over priced and i'll have Murphy and Danger first, Lids to out play Cotch before the byes

I Disagree. I think cotch is nearly 50k under price. I believe he showed in the latter half of last season he could be a 120point a round player and has captain potential. Danger and both murphy are also under-priced and have a similar upside to cotch.

A midfield with all 3 would be good start if you were new to the game.

To me Deledio is a smarter option, his environment isn't changing, whereas Cotchin's is. Based purely on my opinion most of them will have a negative effect on Cotchin. He is still sooooo young, and Deledio has a great history of scoring :)

How is Trent Cotchin underpriced ??? he's in a poor and unproven team

Guys like him who ave 110 last year dropped off considerably, Redden, Murphy, Selwood and Rockliffe

Guys as good as him are way cheaper in Paddy Dangerfield and Marc Murphy

Say all you want but Cotchin at that price is a risk, especially with Pendlebury the same price

How can you make comments like Redden, Murphy Selwood and Rocky going down in ave.

Lids is like 25 and his best before last season was like 97,  so why can't he do the same and drop heaps? And then you bring up Dangerfield? His best ave before last ear like in the 60-70s lol. Why wouldn't he drop as well on your stupid logic?

So you suggest players are more likely to drop off than Cotchin. Lol.

Saying that, on tbags logic, do not touch Dangerfeld, he will go below 90. Lolol.
