2012       played        ave

Naitanui        20          114.2
Sandilands     12          112.6
Cox              22          112.3
Ryder           15           105.5
Leuenberger  3             70

At the present I have Sandilands and Leuenberger in the ruck, then Cox and Ryder up forward. Will bring Nicnat in after his first good score as my thinking is that WCE will show caution when bringing him back, thus a drop in price. If the Sandi/Leuey
combination is working Nicnat will come in as a forward Should Nicnat start late and be introduced in a cautious manner then
I would very strongly expect Cox to score very well early.Forward line may look a bit strange on paper but SC isn't about looks is it ?  It's about scoring points and with the exception of Cox I expect them all to increase their averages this year. What are your thoughts ?? Could I be on to something or am I stark raving bonkers ??? Cheers.

Thanks KB you could be right, I've just knocked off work and feel quite knackered. Cheers.
Oooooops   PS
Only Franklin and Pavlich have 2012 averages that compete with 4 of these 5 ruckmen.

Can we trust Ryder at Essendon? Cox may start ruck for me with Berger, use some cheap forwards like Cloke, Knigher, Varcoe and trade one for say Nic, swap Cox to forwards

Would like to have Sandi though, that would mean Cox starting forward, not starting Pav or Buddy :o

My tip is the Great Man with Rocky to belt out 110's

Idealy I'd like to finish with Maric in ruck

Surely Cox and Nat go close to top 6 forward average buy seasons end again?

Capper

I usually associated Cox with DT and NicNat with SC and even more so now that the new rucking rule has come in. I am also thinking about starting Mummy, Burger and Ryder at the moment in SC but i may bring in NicNat if his groin is ok

perfectly fine. if the rucks are better than the forwards, then theyre better!!! if youre only doing for MPP then thats another issue, but if you think they will score bettter then it doesnt mater!!

Ringo

ATM I am starting Berger, Goldy, Cox and Roughy so not as far fetched as the title suggests.  Last year Nat, Cox, Roughy and Ryder were in the top 6 scoring forwards so why not.

Will be going this way because I think it very possible the top 3 or so  R/F will be in the top 6 to 8 forward line scorers. But like almost everything else discussed in these columns it will all depend on  preseason performances (except fpr Nicnat)
Incidently may I ask another dumb question ? Will anyway,
What do the numbers next to Premium /  on top of our avatar mean please ???  Cheers.

think ruckment get injured to often to do this don't you remember last seasons ruck problems?

Sabretooth Tigers

Sure do KB, I started with the set and forget combination of Mumford and Leuenberger. Traded both out for Nicnat ans Jrough. But with 30 trades this year I believe it's worth the punt and at the worst it will involve a sideways trade. There has to be a way to gain an edge this year as IMO there will be a higher scoring and much more even competition this year. It could even come down to the best weekly captains. Cheers.

Nothing wrong with it if you pick the right ones.
I'm likely to start with 4 and might end up with 5 later in the year.

Its certainly an option as others have said if they are the highest scorers, why not. Also as said injuries to ruckmen are a concern but with 30 trades a couple sideways will probably be ok but remember you may have other injuries in other positions to also tend to with more sideways trading required which can quickly eat up those extra trades so i think caution still needs to be applied to limit to many injury concerns and sideways trades to keep the advantage of the extra trades and a bit of luck never goes astray.

If adopting this strategy do not forget to have a rookie R/F link to cover any ruck injuries.  This may save trades if say one of your main 2 rucks has an injury for only 2 or 3 weeks.  We all know what happened last year and with Berger possibly in 100% of teams need this flexibility,
