Thanks Grazz for clearing that up :)

I am probably stating a lot of the bleeding obvious Lez but i hope it is useful to some. :-\
Do you think he is having a crack, Grazz.
He might start with Boydy now ;D

Hard to tell with Lez mate, i dont think so, but regardless im just hoping to be of some help to us in getting our heads around what has essentially become a new game regarding strategies etc. Im hungry to hear from other members and their thoughts on the game now the rules have changed. More brains the better.  :)
+1 Grazz.Tbh FF is no1 for its positive thought sharing approach by its members.Doesnt matter how old or good we are you never stop learning.Im sure you are ,as i am, excited about the prospects of FF competing well in  league results this year.
Thanks to everyones sharing of opinions and stratagies. :)

Grazz

Yeh its the positive input from the majority that make FF what it is, by far the best site for Fantasy Footy info and opinion bar none.
The site may not have all the bells and whistles or look as pretty as some but it has the ingredient that counts which is clever people willing to work and share for the benefit of all.

I am excited about FF and the prospects of very good results for FF Leagues in 2013. Over the last 3-4 seasons the results have started to come in all forms of Fantasy Footy DT SC Sportsbet etc and i think this will continue to improve as coaches find that perfect mix of other coaches to fill leagues with who are clever and will go the distance for the benefit of the 17 other coaches even if their season isn't what they'd hoped it would be. More of these leagues are being kept together now year in year out which is great, if it aint broke dont fix it. I do alot of my work here around building leagues and its no secret id love FF leagues to dominate the Top 20 League Page. 2013 will certainly be another step in that direction.

We also have our share of coaches who have climbed the mountain and been overall Champ in DT and SC which is awesome and supports my opinion that this is the place to improve your game and strategies. You are right we are never to old to learn nor does one person have all the answers its a collection of members and ideas that we gain our advantage and strength here at FF.

Fantastic site, fantastic research, fantastic coaches. Very glad to be a part of this.

no issue with sideways now...
i don't agree exactly Zippy, as Grazz somewhat writes below (where he's agreeing with you)

Yeah no issue with sideways trades now as they've become a useful tool for a gain in cash while maintaining points. My only concern with sideways trades is that you think through them carefully and be as certain as you can of the outcome you are expecting otherwise they can just as easily blow up in your face. I honestly feel you'll need to make sideways trades of all players not just prems in order to gain the maximum advantage of unlimited trades, just make sure you do your homework. Time is a factor now not trades left regarding getting a team full of prems.

Say for example you need 5 more prems and there is 5 weeks left, chances are your going to be a prem short at the end of the 5 weeks as sometimes your going to require three trades to get a certain prem thus taking up another week to get 1 player leaving 3 weeks now to get 4 prems. You'll need to be able to judge exactly how long it will take to get a full prem team the same as it would be if your counting trades to get it, instead your counting how many weeks to get it. As usual the quicker the better and now trades are not an issue the speed in which you prem up will be critical to your rank rather than saving trades so you can maintain it through finals with the General and other issues bobbing up. Hope that makes sense.
I agree with this part in that it will be the timing of who you get and when you get them which will be the main thing - so this is where the 'nuance' of trading will shift in DT imo.  ;)

Probably should of included the timing of the sideways strategy in mine as this needs to be thought of also. Timing as well as a clear advantage in making money while maintaining a similarity in point output is critical and probably go hand in hand, without one the other probably wont occur, no point making money while going backwards considerably in scoring ability. There's probably 3 or 4 factors to consider when doing a sideways trade and 3 out of 4 of those boxes will need to be ticked depending on your teams situation and circumstance. Lets face it even with all the boxes ticked mistakes will occur through an injury or a vest etc so as in days gone by Sideways does come with a calculated risk V reward. I wouldn't be sideways trading unless there are clear and beneficial advantages for one reason or another and timing is an integral factor with this. I think the majority of us here will have that clear in our minds by the time we get up and going. Everyone seems to be adjusting their mindset around the new rules pretty well. Those coaches that have been consistently good in the past will be good again in 2013 i think. Wouldn't surprise if i drop off a bit in the 1st year of the new rules though, i'll be doing my best not to but with any major change it is a valid concern. :)

Only read the first page, but am I the only one who thinks 44 trades could bring in a whole lot of new/different strategies and maybe be a good thing?

I'm on holiday atm, and haven't really thought about it. It's probably bad and makes it easier for nubs... But not too easy. I'd say it makes picking a good starting team key. As if you pick a shower one anyone can just trade the good ones in but it'll take 'em 2-3 rounds of catch up. Whereas if you pick a gun starting team you have a good lead on the rest.

There's new strategies to be evolved I guess and it'll make it easier, but it'll also add more fun parts IMO. Being able to start w/ Higgins, Sylvia and Grimes will be great fun imo and prevents a major need for a blacklist. Which I'm looking forward to.

In regards to DT vs. SC now... I'm really not sure, I can't bring myself to like SC more, I'm a DT man. But maybe I should, IDK. I don't think more trades should make me like one game less than the other.

People are slowly warming to it Nails and embracing the new challenges and strategies and other things you speak of above. If you read the whole thread you'll notice how the general vibe has mellowed. We are all creatures of habit and change isn't always welcomed immediately. You should have a crack at SC aswell mate, it's all good except the rolling lockout, gotta be honest still not a fan of that. Hope the holidays going well.

Yeah most definately you`ll be able to easily sideways a injured player out now and bring them back in later if you wish to.The strategy in that is doing it at the right time so as to maximise all benefits cash wise.

What im looking forward to most is FF elite.

You get to do a live draft, which is in my opinion the best thing about the fantasy NBA. and every team is unique.

Justin Bieber

Yeah looking forward to the live draft. Got an email today and keen.

Excited!

Haven't been involved in anything like this before. The only downside appears to be that you can only be in one league per email address. On the live chat at AFL.com Dr.DT said to just make multiple accounts if you want to be in more leagues. Not sure how the AFL would feel about that advice. ???

I reckon they'd be fine with it in DT Elite as there are no prizes, so making multiple accounts won't help to you win any sort of prize.

I tihnk DT Elite got the idea off ossie. :O
