Hmmm,

DT has always been my game of choice - but the new trade system annoys me. But if I were to make SC my No.1 I'd have to adapt to the scoring and prices, as well as dealing with a rolling lockout which I don't like either.

Both have their pros and cons.

i know its really better scoring system (DT) v better rules (SC) in my opinion. If only SC had the 2 trades per week than i wouldnt make a SC team at all. As it stands im making both but im not happy with either now.
Haha I'm in the same boat.

Is it possible that VS purposely chose different rules for each comp to see which works better, and they'll then implement the better one next season for both comps? Unless of course the people at AFL and SC wanted their own rules. What do you think m0nty?

?

the comps are run independently to eachother as competitors aren't they?

I just went to the Supercoach site (for the first time ever) and down the bottom it says "Powered By Virtual Sports".

Master Q might actually be on to something. They could be testing the waters to see which format is more popular and generates the most revenue.

Which really is just stupid and quite pathetic, just let people play the game!

Well hopefully tis one step back equals to 2 steps forward next year. And that the perfect game is created. (Well perfect for most people, there will always be complaints)

The competition between the AFL and News Ltd has meant in the past that they haven't been different, as anything that VS offered one party they had to also offer the other party. There was a sense that if anyone did anything different, they would likely get punished for it by the market.

The drop in registrations last year has removed that fear, since the bigwigs see some changes have to be made to arrest the slide. DT was passed by SC years ago, so they're the comp that needs more of a push. They're taking more risks. We don't know which is the better set of rules yet, the mass of punters will decide.

The biggest thing SC has in its favour over DT in respect to the amount of subscribers is Newspapers. ln Victoria SC its pumped heavily in the Herald-Sun, which has the largest circulation by a mile......l dont know about the other states, but l suspect its the same. l see this as DTs biggest hurdle to overcome, however their tactic of giving 2 trades per week is a good way to increase their numbers. But of course if it is successful, l fully expect SC to go down the same path

Yeah, the Advertiser here (In South Aussie land) has the regular Supercoach articles.

At least on our websire AdelaideNow we can read the stories for free unlike the sun nazi's

Also with the AFL web site we get free live player scores unlike the sun nazi's

Such a shame now that DT is changing but i'll find a way to make the most of the changes, also will take SC very seriously but it's frustraiting not getting live scores, 1/4ly scores on fox footy

I just view it as Dream Team is the equivalent of the PSN.

Supercoach is like XBox live.

So you're saying more people play Xbox :o

What I may do is run simulations with different teams using 44 trades to work out an estimated cost of points losses to point gains through extra cash through various points in the season. Should give a better understanding of when to try and gain money in the comp
