Reports coming out that 2014 DT will involve you picking a squad of 18 players with no salary cap and they can be from any position.  Each week you can pick a team, so no need to worry about trading.

The winner of the car will be randomly selected out of a barrel. So anyone can win, so sign up.

:) :) :)

Any thoughts on restructuring the boards m0nty? With almost double the trades there'll be a similar rise in trade threads and P&T will become even more congested than before.
This is a good idea. Too much already on the P&T board especially when alot of info on there can be used elsewhere. :)
how would you restructure it??

I'm open to suggestions.

I think this would work well...

As for the boards, I could see a dedicated fantasy news board for things like team announcements, late outs, injuries etc. which would free up some space in P&T. Obviously the name "Fantasy News" has been taken already but you get my drift.

That's what the Fantasy News board is for, really. Stuff that goes across all comps.

So you want those lateouts etc.. to be posted here?? Cool 8) That should limit alot of traffic on the P&T boards. :) (And me reporting all those threads for those that post in the wrong spot :D)

Mr.Craig

Obviously we'll need to change the fact that only mods can start threads here if that's the case (unless they started generic threads that we kept posting in throughout the season. However, I'd have thought it would make more sense for those sections to be attached to the DT/SC boards themselves.

I found the culprit! Some muppet named Nix wrote basically what have been the new changes back in September on DTtalk, it circled the web via twitter

It's re-posted in that game changer article on DTtalk in comments, @9.30pm ;)

What a spud!

Hmmm,

DT has always been my game of choice - but the new trade system annoys me. But if I were to make SC my No.1 I'd have to adapt to the scoring and prices, as well as dealing with a rolling lockout which I don't like either.

Both have their pros and cons.

i know its really better scoring system (DT) v better rules (SC) in my opinion. If only SC had the 2 trades per week than i wouldnt make a SC team at all. As it stands im making both but im not happy with either now.

Mate,i have noticed a very quiet Grazz today.I bet you have just picked yourself off the floor.
I agree with your thoughts but i feel good players like yourself will still find a strategy to be more successful than most.
Once you except it the mind starts finding ways of getting an edge on the casual player.
Mate ,take the challange and kill it.We need your enthusiam to keep going. :)

Yeh i agree mate the good coaches will find a way to expose the rules, hope i can also. Still the entusiasm has taken a bit of a hit. This should change as i study options and strategy's etc hopefully.

Chin up Grazz. I think the advantage this year will be having made the selection first, in the right game. You have 2 trades each week to stay ahead of the pack. Dr DT as an example...can you keep ahead of his advice to the pack or keep 2 good smokies coming in each week?...just needs a new way of looking at the competition I suppose... 8)

Totally agree TDog, a complete change in strategy is warranted now trades are no longer an issue for finals etc. I like to concentrate on rank more so than GF spots and wins. Rank always helps you into a few finals series anyway but now i need to startegise how to stick with the leaders overall on a new playing field. Whoever gets out the box the fastest will have a big advantage if they have a decent strategy on cash cows, rooks, points versus dollars, fallen prems on the bubble of a large price rise etc. I think your start over the first few rounds is even more critical than ever before or atleast thats what im thinking at the minute anyway. Not giving anything a whole lot of thought this weekend, have my brother inlaws wedding to attend this arvo so my biggest concern is how im going to survive that and pull up tomorrow lol.

yeah grazz, that was my thought as well- normally overall rankings are about set by around round 14 or so for the top 1000 or w.e... I'm thinking with this it could be a lot sooner.

I think so mate, those that can get a jump on the field early are going to be harder to run down as you havent got the amount of trades left advantage to run them down later in the year. If your a couple a hundred points or more behind after 3-4 rounds youve really got your work cut out to catch back up and if there is still a big gap between you and the leaders around the rnd 7-8 mark then the overall win could be out the door for the year. Might be over thinking it a bit at this early stage but at the minute its how im seeing it early days.

I'll start weekly threads (or one of the mods). The problem with them being attached to DT/SC boards is that you get duplication of effort and discussion. Better to have it all in one place.

Always have preferred SC and always will.

My thoughts on the changes to DT? I like them.

Originally i thought it makes it a lot easier but after thinking about it, it makes it even harder then it was. Yes it will be easier for those who don't actually research or put in effort like we do but it creates an even bigger challenge to actually find a unique strategy that will win you the major prize. In previous years we have had all the DT noobs finishing poorly (after giving up from lack of trades), we have then had researchers and regulars who put in an effort finishing mid - higher up and then we have those who are there till the end competing for the Major prize. I like to think that for all those who finish mid-higher range we all shared a very similar strategy but it was those people who actually did the research and varied from this norm strategy that all of us shared that were competing for the prize.

This variation becomes even more important now, and for those who are willing to put in the effort, research and find a variation of strategy that suits these new rules, then the noobs will still be unable to beat them and all of these regular DTer's that are against the new trading rules won't be in a position to compete for the major prize because they will have not put the effort into making the rules work for themselves but instead trying to change what has already been done.

but still 2 trades a week makes it easier for them to rectify mistakes
