MASTER

INTERSTING TEAM,LIKE THE UNIQUE PICKS, REDDEN COULD BE IN FOR A BIG YEAR . RISKY WITHOUT THE GREAT MAN GAZ !

Babylove

Def: I like this line.  Good structure.

Mid: looks a little weak tbh.  Risky not having GAJ, though Pendles is also Cap material.  Think you may at ruffle against teams with 4-5 ultra prems though.

Ruc: standard combo

For:  strong you could probably afford to downgrade one of Wright, Thomas or Martin to Staker and spend the cash in your mids.

Thanks for the response, Yeah I agree I'll change it up! Cheers.

Personally i don't like to pick guys who are premiums who are not likely to end up in the top x number of spots in a position.

For example in the midfield you would expect Ablett, Swan, Pendles, Beams, Watson, Kennedy, Danger, Selwood/Cotchin with perhaps Murphy and maybe a break out player like Shuey who may be this years next Danger/Cotchin.

Hence i would stay clear of Redden unless you feel he will improve his average from 102 to something around 116 to break into this top group ...

I think a ruck/forward DPP link is essential this year ... especially with the chances of blokes like Luey (who 100% of teams will have) could easily go down.  There are not many straight swaps for a 300k ruck .. but if you have a cox, roughy, ryder etc in your forwards you can just trade them in and get a 300k forward instead or a rookie ...

Danger of Rocky playing forward a bit could mean he doesn't actually go up in value ... but big risk / reward which a lot of teams are taking.

Don't like Daisy as i think his midfield time will be limited and he will be competing against the likes of Swan, Pendles, Beams, Sidebottom, Ball etc for time ...

I would swap Daisey Thomas for a ruckman and put McBean on your ruck bench.

Cheers.

I like your team mate, but one thing I will say is I don't know why many people (yourself included) are on the Docherty train. At this same time last year it was "all aboard" and he didn't get a single game.  My question is, who has laft the Lions in order for Docherty to get a game? What's changed from 2012?

Solid Team:

No comments on rookies as a lot of water has to pass under the bridge before Round 1.  This includes players being named in Round 1 and some rookies promoted to Senior lists. Goodes in this category. Personally still do not think Docherty will make Lions team for Round 1. 6 Back spots will be available and these are the players that will be competing for 6 Merrett, Maguire Patfull who will probably fill the back 3 then Hanley, Golby, Adcock, Harwood, Docherty competing for next 3.  Rich also has been training in the half back pocket and Staker may also be used back instead of forward.  So basically as need to adopt a wait and see for round 1 with Rookies.  (Just using Docherty as an example due to my knowledge of Lions as they have depth this year.)

DEF: Solid line here 4 prems here I like.
MIDS: Solid Redden maybe a POD this year but watch performance early to see how used with the arrival of Moloney.  Personally would take Ball over Embley and you have cash to do so.
RUCKS: Solid with Rowe as DPP.
FWDS: Strong line here - Would look at replacing Daisy with a R/F like Cox, Nat, Roughhead or Ryder for flexibility. Thomas still wearing moon boot so will be underdone.  If further cash is required maybe downgrade Wright to Staker and maintain a solid line.

Notes:
Still weighing up the Duffield pick with Hanley, M.Johnson, Hurn and others available at nearly the same price.
My rookie picks in Goodes and Dwyer are not set in until elevated but i beleive they are good picks when/if elevated.
Yes, I don't have GAJ, I have my reasons I needed more cash and I think having 5 Elite Premiums can help me cover him.

Team looks good mate, some great choices there.

DEF: Some great choices. I'm a little bit iffy with Duffield though, one week he is the Freo go to man, the next he's dropped by Ross Lyon. I'd prefer to wait and see with him. Goddard, Gibbs and Birchall are excellent choices.

MIDS: 5 strong prem mid choices. All very good but start without GAJ at your own peril.

RUCKS: Goldy and Luey both good picks. Number 1 rucks at their repsective clubs this season and should score very well.

FWDS: Nice choices here. Wright a bit of a risk but every team needs a point of difference. I personally will see how he goes and may bring him in later on. Franklin, Rocky and Stevie J are solid picks.

Overall I give you team an 8/10 at this stage mate.

Wright as a 4th forward is the only concern ... otherwise pretty solid!

i'll be honest. i like the team.
i dont mind you not starting without GAJ but as long as he ends up in there during the year then its ok.

def: 10/10 (love the structure & duffield pic)
Mids: 9.5/10 (5 premo's to start is great all should avg 120+)
rucks: stock standard 10/10
FWDS: 8.5/10 (not sold on wright)

Swapped Wright for Martin.
Thinking about Mundy for Murphy will have alot of extra cash thoughts?

DCAK

Hi mate, your teams looking great IMO, I don't see trading Murphy down to Mundy as a bad move at all, Mundy is a gun, but why do you need to do it? Maybe if you did that you could upgrade Pendles to GAJ? Not sure of the math.

lazarel

i see your point this is just rough theres a 90% chance ill have gaj anyway
