how do you think Horse is going to work the fwd-line with Tippett not playing til half-way thru the season??

SydneyRox

You really dont know. I get the sense that things may go back to early last year when they didnt really want to play Pyke in the team if Mummy was fit. Preferring to let LRT, White or someone (Tippett maybe) be used as the fill in.

Come round 13, I dont see spots for everyone. Mummy, LRT, Pyke, Tippett, Reid, Goodes all in the fwd line or playing rucks. Now LRT could go back to permanent backline, but then someone like Johnson or Mattner/Eski have to give way??

Not even sure the NAB will provide a good guide. Unlike last year I think Horse knows his best 22 and will use the NAB to trial the next generation. Giving Bolton, Goodes, ROK, Richards an easier start than normal.

LRT is also 30 and about to start his 11th season at the swans, i think....

Cant see Goodes playing R1 so i can see Pyke getting a game along with probably Morton, depending on how Membrey goes in the NAB. Resting Ruckman wikl be FF, Reid CHF, Morton in the pocket, with McGlynn, Bird, Bolton, McVeigh, Parker, ROK, Jetta rotating through the forwards and mids

Nice.... never thought about it like that. I was also thinking, was there any need to risk him considering our first 3 games?
he would want to play R2 for the unveiling of the flag at the SCG, but i can see him miss round 1

I thought I read round 1 was the flag presentation? But just checked it is GWS home game?

off to find that article......

QuoteSydney Swans fans will get an early season highlight next year with the 2012 premiership flag to be unfurled at the SCG in round two.

SydneyRox

Yeah, I saw that one, which it must have been. My eyes were playing tricks on me!

Nice article on Jed Lamb. Will play NAB and hoping to push for a spot. Another xfactor player who will should be ready to fit straight into a role if he gets some game time.

http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/2013-01-21/lockyer-back-in-the-groove

Lockyer could be a smokie to make a debut early on. Will depend if he can displace Armstrong as the next in line

wow just a little ride for Lamb and Brown
QuoteLamb undertook an unconventional off-season program, with the 20-year-old joining Swans reserves coach Jared Crouch and team mate Alex Brown on a Premiership Quarter 500km cycling tour in south-east Asia before returning home to Yarram, Victoria, where he continued to train.

New faces set to make debut in the NAB!! But said there would be plenty of new faces in games 1 and 2.

Horse didn't name any names which is a shame, but he did mention Jed Lamb as a big preseason performer.

Good news I think. Would love to see Lamb get a gig. Was super excited when we drafted him a few years back.

Hopefully Mitchell, Lockyer and Membrey are amongst the others pushing for a debut!

The news we have wanted to hear. Goodes "no doubt" for round 1, will probably play in NAB

Nick Smith and Marty Mattner still not with main group, hoping to join the training group soon.

According to Goodes, McVeigh and Tippett were the standouts for the training camp.
