Which Combo would you take?

The obviously answer would be Option 1 but it makes my structure look a little weird. My thinking behind Stanton is based on this stat i found:

After 9 rounds Essendon were 8-1 and Stanton averaged 130
From rounds 10-23 Essendon went 3-10 and Stanton averaged 83

Option 1 will look like this:

What option would you pick?

I don't think Stanton is consistent enough for the price tag.  If you take him expect frustration throughout the year.

I think you have one to many premium mids anyway ... perhaps swap him for a rookie and look to strengthen elsewhere.

He is also another round 13 bye player ...

I got him in after round 1 last year and it worked well for the first half of the year.

If i went him again i would look to sideways trade (yes, this is not a black banned word on this site just yet) prior to the bye rounds ... given we have 30 trades this would be a little out of the box thinking ... but perhaps a little to far outside the box  ;D

I doubt he will end in the the 8 premium mids at the end of the year so no point getting him as a permanent premium in my opinion.  Plenty of data that shows he can't maintain 120 type average of the superstars for a whole year ...

Stanton is priced as high as he is because of his great early season form. I got him in after Rnd 2 last year (instead of getting Josh Kennedy) and I was laughing for awhile. Teams learnt that if he is tagged he becomes an ordinary player

Fyfe by seasons end will have scored more points than stanton even if stanton gets off to a flyer. imao docherty is unlikely to get much game time unless the team has injury problems, he is probably 8th in line for a backline spot.  Grimes should barring injury play most of the season and should by seasons end be in top 4-5 defenders and Wines should also get plenty of games for Ports understrength midfield.

So the second option is the best for me both because of points and also because of team setup.
