Gaz started at 689k and finished at 701k in 2012 mate. From memory the most he dropped was about 40k.

dropped more that 40, i know cause off memory i grabbed him for about 600

Cant really remember tbh but it would of been 60k tops. Deffinately not 200k, i would imagine a price drop at some stage this year of around 40k-50k but cant see him falling much further than that.

Yeah he did drop to 600k according to tooserious after the Richmond game where he had a couple of sub-100 scores prior to it.

Thanks mate, couldnt find it meself and couldnt remember.

yeah but as i said

three years as a solid perma captain, sure
swan enjoyed two years of that
judd probably 1-2 years of that before swan

smart money would suggest that with the gold caost team getting to the stage it is, and gaz being 28 this year, itll be clear to him by now he wont see a premiership at gold coast while hes still playing as he will be out by 31
i would not put money on him being the best pick for a 4th year

i love that so many people are on him, means that i wont drop behind too far in points by not starting him

id be looking at the smarter options
pendles, cotchin, jpk all solid options to be the next perma captain by mid way this year

Grazz

Although we are only guessing at this stage i wouldnt back against Gazz doing it again. One year you'll be right though, law of averages. :)

hannebery2rohan

I definitely think that one year his average will drop a fair bit, 10-15 points or so bringing him back to the pack. I don't think it's this year however.

mark621

thats the name of the game.
i think we will see it this year

lets face it, every premium drops in price
you either pick the super prem in ablett, a smaller amount of prems, and rookies
your premiums drop in price then go back up, your rookies go up and you cash up and get more increasing premiums

the other is no super premium, more premiums and rookies
you see your premiums drop and your rookies go up, but you rookies you cash up to get ablett

at the end of the season, same teams for most. POD's become common if you pick well

sure way to get ahead is be able to pick every mid priced player that will go up to premium, pick the next super premiums ahead of time and the best rookies to get those bouncing premiums
then pocket at least 10k from winning lets say half of the games as the top scorer each round and 50k all over cause you picked so well you won... how hard could that occurrence be

http://m.afl.com.au/news/2013-03-17/gaz-start-to-finish - at $740k could not having him be a smart POD and free up some cash or is it just stupid to be without the master?

Patriot Manhattan

Absolute . I started without GAJ once....ONCE.

Really though I think that article says more about Bennell, Swallow etc. than it does Gary.
QuoteMcKenna said Ablett was in front of where he was this time last year, despite calf and back problems during the pre-season.

"I would have thought for the competition that's spooky," he said.

"I think he's ready to rumble."

This article has me in a spin if I want to start with the great man..

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-03-19/less-is-more-for-ablett

Surely if he spends more time in the forward line his output wont be as huge as it has been over the last couple of years?
He will still score well, but dont think he will pump out those monster scores regularly..

Thoughts?

If Bennell and Swallow and all the rest start playing really well teams wont let Ablett run around by himself as much because they might actually lose games if that happens. In the past 2 years opposition teams were ok with Ablett having 40 possessions because they would still win by 10 goals.

If Bennel and Swallow played like Premiership Players from Geelong, Ablett would still score well. 30 quality disposals leading to goals might convert to higher SC scores than 40 possessions all over the field.
