With the inclusion of BJ who genuinely thinks he has the potential to score like he did early in season 2012?
What do you think he will average and will you take the punt?

~I'm putting him in for 108 ppg~

rebird

picking him for a high average prior to the bye - then trading him

Toga

I reckon Redden is a better option. Will get more overall points than Stants, and is $17k cheaper. Also, probably won't have to trade him if his scores drop...

I would question that strategy for a couple of reasons. There's nothing in the stats that gives the indication he'll definitely start better than he'll finish. His first half and second half of the year in 2009 were pretty similar, in 2010 he averaged more in the first half, in 2011 he averaged more in the second half and in 2012 he averaged more in the first half so there's no noticeable trend.

Also, his overall DT average for his career is 91.5 and in the first 11 weeks of 2013 he plays -

Adelaide (90.1)
Melbourne (72.1)
Fremantle (89.3)
St Kilda (87.8)
Collingwood (100.9)
GWS (93)
Geelong (80.2)
Brisbane (101.5)
Richmond (90.9)
Sydney (78.7)
Carlton (99.9)

So he's playing against the teams he historically performs worst against while not playing Hawthorn (105.3), Western Bulldogs (105.2) and Gold Coast (104.5).

I think you should either pick him from the start and ride out the waves for the whole year or look at him as an upgrade because I don't believe he'll rise in value early.

+1 Redden would be a much better option if their starting at those prices!

Love Redden and should be a nice POD, along with Lake

ADEZ

cheers for the discussion, currently is expected to average 109ish based on every ones voting....
At the moment he is fighting for a spot with Murphy

Ablett, Cotchin, Pendles, Redden, Stanton/Murphy and rookies

tbagrocks

Almost tempted but, with Redden, Murphy and Danger cheaper, also Fyfe, Mundy better value, it would be hard to do, however with 30 trades, could be worth the risk

Great post. Given me something to think about. Surely he will do better against Melbourne and GWS than the averages here though?

Can/Will never trust Stanton.

At least one person is on par with me in DT intelligence. Ave of less than 90. Haha nah, he will ave more, but he's a piss poor player.

Being a one-eyed Bomber, I've seen every game Stanton has played.  As much as I hate to say it, "don't trust him", full stop.
