I've got a bet on with a mate which means i need to finish in the top 1000 this year.  Any feedback on my team would be much appreciated.

Backs: Goddard B, Grimes J, Gibbs B, Heppell D, Hartlett H, Pittard J, (Staker B, Terlich D)

Mids: Ablett G, Beams D, Murphy M, Embley A, Menzel T, Mitchell K, Crouch B, Evans M, (O'Mara J, Jones M)

Rucks: Sandilands A, Luenburger M, (Grundy B, Currie D)

Forwards: Franklin L, Bartel J, Zorko D, Rockliff T, Thomas D, Spangher M, (Lee T, Membrey T)

Cash left: $18,200

Thanks in advance!!

i'd stack your mids and forwards with premos and only have 3 premo defenders because there are many rookie defenders that should get games

premo mids and forwards get you more points then defender premos so think this makes sense

Goddard, Gibbs. Broughton

are my 3 picks

put Staker up forward for DPP with Broughton

you really need another premo mid imo to have any chance

Embley wont be a top 8 mid or even close to would upgrade him to if you can

i think guns and rookies is the best strategy for overall

thanks for the help.  I like the gun rookie strategy, i picked up embley basicly to upgrade him to swan ASAP, i figure with a couple of ok games he could peak a weak or two earlier than some of the rookies.  I didnt plan on having so many defenders, but i really like heppell and hartlet.  What do you think of replacing one with gaff in the midfield?

Mr.Craig

You can dismiss Evans and Spangher, I can't imagine they will get many (if any) games.

As kb mentioned you should restructure to put more money into the mids. Cheap/rookie backs such as Docherty, Vlastuin, Van Unen, Colquhoun, Goodes and Osborne are all Round 1 possibilities and should allow you to field at least one less premium than you currently have. Then you need to look at the forward value options such as Broughton, Sylvia, Knights, Krakouer, Varcoe, Byrnes etc. Select one of those guys at the expense of Buddy, Bartel or Zorko. Depending on who you choose those changes should leave you with about 400k-500k to spend on turning one of your mid rookies into a premium.

Embley will be a good stepping stone to a premo imo .. will make you just as much cash as a rook

I agree with Mr.Craig .. im a fan of Goodes and Docherty for the backline along with solid picks you already have in Terlich and Pittard .. if you wanted a link between backs and forward you could have Broughton in the backs and Staker in the forward line giving you another quality forward benchy and DPP link

Agree with Kilbluff comments on midfield and dpp link with Broughton and Staker
