Do you support Tomic?

I used to like him, now I cannot stand him.

TBH I don't actually think he was going to be great. He got the basics right but I see no x-factor in his game. Rafa has the power, Fed has arsenal of shots, Hewitt has fight - Tomic, I see nothing. Then add to the fact that he basically states that he will be No.1 one day and takes his JOB and LIFE for granted. The majority of Australians would give up their day jobs and become a tennis player.  Anyone Australian would die for the semi-gift he has and he is just wasting it.

This is year he to prove if he really is that good as people say he is. At 20 Djokoivc for example went 4R SF SF F

@Q - Tomic has the tennis brain. Very smart player who mixes up his shot speed.

Hasn't stood out for me, and I think you'll need a decent brain to be successful these days  :P

Doesn't a good tennis brain mean having the common sense to not drive a car around after you've been told not to by the police?

Not sure where people go on this, he's a fantastic reader of the game, great tennis brain, com'on he out played the champion :o

When he plays like this, and maybe he only fires up for the big games, but that should change, he actually looks like he will make it

Did beat Novak last night in a pretty good display.

Did think that Novak seemed a little jet lagged, wasn't at his best.

Holz

Novak clearly wasnt playing like novak, but all credit to tomic even when he isnt on his best novak can crush most opponents. He showed real positive signs last night I wish him all the best, if he can play like that in the slams he should be able to make it into the seond week of some of the torunaments and that should be the goal.

Been following Tomic since I first heard about him when he was about 13/14yo when he was winning the Orange Bowl in Florida against 15yo's...

Great talent, but lacks the maturity ATM to make it. Is disrespectful, intolerant, and a spoiled brat, who thinks he's better than everyone else because he can earn big $$$

When he's on camera, he'll say the right things to gain the endorsements etc, but it's when he's off camera that he needs to change his attitude to get to the top.

Just because he's young doesn't mean he has the right to behave the way he has been lately. There have been many young players with his talent who were also respectful etc.

Surely being dropped from the Davis Cup team will show him that talent alone doesn't get you places.

Let me rephrase, he doesn't have a Australian background, he is Australian. That doesn't mean he is any lesser of a brat though.  :P

PowerBug

Well at 18 djokovic said that he can beat Nadal on Clay..... and he's gone right up to the top. Djokovic had the big head when he was younger, who's to say that Tomic won't follow his path? (Calm down, play good tennis, stay away from trouble and become a world beater)

He has the chance to do it, but i can't see myself liking him ever. His game style is so offputting as a viewer. :P

I want to like him but I can't  :P I met him 4 years ago when he was only 15 or 16... When people want pictures with you at that age I can understand that sometimes he might get a bit cocky  :P  ;D

Still, Novak looked off and if it was 5 sets - you never know...

tbagrocks

Right so... here's the test for the brat, can he back up a mammoth win and play well again the next day?
