The great man will be missed. I loved his commentary, it always made me smile and listen, partially due to the orgasmic accent. He was an amazing player back in the day as well.

To add insult to injury, Bill Lawry's also retiring from commentary after the Sydney Test.

giving more ammo for Channel 10 to swoop on the cricket

Channel 10 needs to find decent commentators first.

I dare say as a result of the battle with lung cancer, my granddad went the same way under the same sitution.
Better its quick than a long drawn out affair if your odds are slim i assure you. Awful disease and seen to many loved ones
rot away to a shadow of themselves. We need a cure.

Wow, just heard this on the radio and am shocked. Thought he was on the improve and was hoping we would get to hear him again this summer. Tragic news and we have lost a great commentator and a great bloke.

RIP Tong Greig. Your comments will be missed. No more "Hard and fast", "off the meat of the bat" or comments about people getting married in Adelaide.
