A couple of months ago, my friends got me a 3DS XL for my 21st birthday. I'm a lifelong Nintendo fan so it was a perfect gift. However, as most of my friends have "grown up" from "childish" video games, I have very few people to discuss games and such with.

I want to know what games YOU recommend for the 3DS. Feel free to recommend DS games as well (although, if you recommend any Pokemon game, I already have at least one from each series and already know how awesome they are ;)). Also, share opinions on any games you have played or ask queries about games you want to get.

So far, I have Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 (both of which I recommend strongly) and a healthy collection of DS games.

Let the conversation start!

Mr.Craig

I'm afraid I can't help you there Huggy. The closest I've got to any Nintendo action recently was when I downloaded the arcade version of Donkey Kong for MAME. 8)

I have OoT 3D, paper mario and mario tennis on top of what you've listed huggy. OoT is always a good option of course :P, and I like paper mario quite a lot. mario tennis there isn't much depth to, but is still fun to play occasionally

Arcade Donkey Kong is still fun. Did you get the original version with just the 4 levels over and over again? Or the Gameboy version they released in '94 with 8 worlds of levels (and a lot more fun in general). If you didn't get the Gameboy version, look for it online. I promise you that it's worth playing. One of the first games I ever had, highly acclaimed, and just a whole lot of fun!

I'll have to get OoT eventually, especially because I never had an N64 to enjoy it on. I was looking at Paper Mario but was really unsure. The fact that someone else really likes it is a positive!
I have a friend who has Mario Tennis and he says he enjoys it. I have the GC Mario Power Tennis and it's one of my favourite games (I'm also exceptionally good at it - if I might say so myself). Will have to look into them!
Have you enjoyed 3D Land and Mario Kart?

Mario Kart I thought was too easy tbh, played all the 50cc GPs and got 3 stars first go on all of them. I enjoyed 3D land quite a bit, although again was quite an easy game.

Don't get me started on Nintendo.  :(

My brother was home for a week for the Christmas break, he is 22. We 'found' the old N64 that we have had 12 years. Chucked on Banjo & Kazzoie and set about trying to finish the game.

It was a dark day when the N64 wouldn't turn on about 4 days in, the red light doesn't light up anymore.  :'(

Must have beaten Zelda: Ocarina of Time about 5 times over the years, so good.

Master Q

Get the new Super Mario Bros game, it looks pretty good. Don't have a 3DS, but I have spent a lot of time over the years playing Nintendo consoles  :P

I'm looking at New Super Mario 2 (the coin one) but was hoping somebody that had played it already would be able to tell me whether or not it's any good.

50cc is meant to be easy though. I've done the same. However, the frequency of blue shells and red shells makes 150cc (and even 100cc) more challenging.

not that easy though, for mario kart wii it is quite difficult to get even 1 star on 50cc, but in mario kart 7, I wasn't even trying to do anything but win the race and still got 3 stars comfortably

I found it very easy to get 3 stars in 50cc on Wii... :-\ also on 100cc. I only had trouble with 150cc. Same deal for DS. I guess it just doesn't surprise me to have it that easy on 3DS as well.

Paper Mario was a pretty sick game on the N64 but i don't think thats on the 3DS.

I suppose Pokemon is always good.

There is a Paper Mario on 3DS. It's one of the two series of games that I'm ashamed to say that I've never played. The other one is even worse so I'm not going to mention it :-\
