Cant wait for Financial Fair Play..............
I however don't like it at all, with this clubs like Chelsea, City etc would neverever!!!! Have a chance of competing for big trophies, the same old boring teams that have dominated for 50 years will continue to do so thus making the most money thus creating an unfair advantage. How the flower the guru's bringing in the rule don't see that as bieng wrong is beyond me ::)
Hold on, so you want the teams with the most money to win and not the team's who actually play the best with the players they have?
Chelsea supporters :P

Luka Modric linked with coming back to the EPL, after being labelled La Liga's worst signing this year.

Yep because it is actually fairer

Example, how good have Arsenal been the last 20 years? For all their hard work the end up winning a couple of league titles but then the bigger clubs come and take their best players, Fabergas and Van Persie could have kept the going strong, now they have a real battle to make the 4

If someone comes and simply takes Chelsea's best two players, guess what? The go and buy two more just as good, keeps them competitive, far fair imo

CrowsFan

Yes and they can buy those new players with the money they receive from selling the other 2. Not from the piggy bank of some billionaire.

If you're not going to read the article about it that cic posted then you can't really argue your point since you don't know what you are talking about ::)

tbagrocks

I might read it at some point,

How did Chelsea get those players in the first place? Was it by winning all the time thus making more money than everyone else? Lets face it, this means that the same clubs that have always won will continue to, thankfully some investers at least put a new perspective into Europian football

If Chelsea didn't buy their way to a champions league then who would have been in the final? Would that be two of the clubs that have had success their before, like regularly. But they wern't and a team that had never won it got their chance ;)

The aim of the fair play has nothing to do with stopping teams from challenging for titles tbag as you seem to think it is. It is about getting clubs to be able to run efficiently without losing money every single year and relying on a sugar daddy to pay for everything.

If you look at the German league pretty much every single team there runs on a profit and develop their own youth. The great example of this is Dortmund, who are now one of the best teams in Europe and will be challenging for the Champions league this year.

Just because almost all English clubs run with extreme debt doesn't mean the fair play is trying to stop these teams from winning anything, it is trying to keep them afloat.

What happens if Roman decides he has had enough of Chelsea and sells them off extremely cheaply to someone else who can't afford to pay their massive wage bill? They would end up collapsing as a club. With the fair play agreement it will stop clubs relying on these owners to stay together as a club.

It also encourages clubs to produce their own talent and not need to buy star after star to win.

The FFP is only good for the game, tbag you seem to be one of the only ones who doesn't see that!

CrowsFan

Oh and I did already mention Dortmund in the champions league, but you say that teams that have never won it before need money to do so. What about the final between Porto and Monaco back in 2004? Neither had won the champions league and neither needed to spend hundreds of millions to make the final ;)

tbagrocks

Dortmond have one of the biggest history's as a club in Europe, Porto was great but who has won it since I ask? Before Chelsea only the big clubs of old!

I do agree mostly with the Fair Play, I'm unsure about wages, is anything being done here or is it up to clubs to spend within their means?

Part of the reason I chose Chelsea is they weren't the big Liverpool or United, I actually don't want to see the same clubs winning most years, to me watching Barcalona gets pretty boring at times, the recent Euro clash between Italy or France I forget and Spain muct have been the most boring game

Having boom clubs like City buying big players to me makes it interesting, how thrilling was the last weekend in the EPL? Without the money United would have strolled away again, thank God they didn't ;D

I just hope the new rules don't stop smaller clubs from challanging for titles

So devasted Pato has left AC Milan.
My favourite player leaving my favourite club.
Surely after losing so many players, Milan should have some money to spend now?!
As long as we keep S. El Shaaraway!

A note, over the years, we have had players like  Pirlo, Ronaldinho, Ibrahimovic, T Silva, Pato, Kaka, Schevshenko and so many others simply deciding to transfer away from the club :(

i have mentioned it before but the 50 + 1 rule which is exclusive Germany as far as i know,
is a large factor in why most German clubs are able to make a profit moreso than other teams in Europe

and is the basis for FIFA to advocate for FFP

I hope Moyes pulls another wonder signing for Everton. The guy is the best at finding random players who are absolute gems
