Boo's

I haven't been on this forum all that much, Im a very casual user and only discovered what a "boo" was a couple of months ago, but I must say.... what a ridiculous, belittling and disheartening concept the Boo'ing system is.

I have noticed while looking throughout the forum that most people have more "Boo's" than "Cheers". I was confused as to how so many people could be made to look like bad judges of football, bad advice givers or talk a lot of crap. After all if they have more boo's that cheers then they must be wrong more often than right?
Well no not at all. In fact the people with so many boo's I have found to give more to the forum than anyone else. A number of people with more Boo's than cheers I have seen give nothing but advice and an opinion and they are crucified for it. What a ridiculous thing to "boo" people that give honest advice and feedback to the forum.

I came on here after a week of not being on and my "boo count" had climbed by 15 boo's. How is that even possible?
Say a word out of line and you will no doubt be booed 10+ times but give someone some helpful advice and you will be lucky to get 1 cheer. What a joke.

To the people that say "ignore it, Dont concentrate on boo's". Thats all good and well for the people that have been on this forum for a length of time and know the good and bad posters but for someone new like myself that may not have looked into it like I did would look at someone s boo count and dismiss what they said immediately thinking that they must have a reputation for giving bogus advice.
Its a dumb concept and it's abused way to often... clearly.

Keep the cheers so that the good posters are rewarded but get rid of the boo's. It makes a mockery out of the posters reputation and is of no benefit other than to put people down anonymously

i also think it's a fairly stupid part of FF people give a boo without a second thought but rarely give a cheer the system is crap it's the only thing i hate about FF

Sounds like someone is complaining about having a bad cheeer/boo ratio :P But yeah, not a good idea. If it could be implented to a post by post thing, then those +1 posts can disappear and we can see the true value in posts. :) (Not sure if this is possible though)

Yeah its definitely an abused system. Ive been on here long enough to know not to even consider someones cheer to boo ratio when considering their advice but I can see how a new comer would look at someone's ratio and assume they are a bullshower artist if they have a bad ratio. Its not a good indicator at all.
My Cheer to boo ratio is pretty good but i do remember posting my thoughts about Melbournes recruiting strategy earlier in the year and I copped like 30 boo's in 2 days. Then on the other hand I have spent hours on here in the off season doing player profiles, team rates and advice etc and got maybe 5 cheers if im lucky lol. I dont care, I do it because I enjoy giving advice but its funny how it works. Would't mind there only being a cheer count

yeah I dont even pay attention to it tbh. Lots of XV coaches copped a lot of boos early on in the initial draft from pissed ff rival caches :P

It would be good to see which posts are getting cheered/booed.

I'm currently going through one of those periods where I'm getting booed and have no idea why. Going to keep doing my thing regardless. 8)

Most of the seasoned coaches usually could not care less about the boo to cheer ratio. Like most coaches when you post something that someone disagrees with you boo count goes up greatly. Had been off line for a time and my boo count went up 75.

Basically does not worry me as I will continue to post and give advice as I see fit.

Would love it if the system worked that you could see which posts were cheered/booed then our Avatar's could just have the total tally with a link to all cheered posts and all booed posts.

That way people can see the 'good' posts other people are being cheered for and can also review the 'bad' posts that seem to draw a negative response.

totally agree, you give advice and if they don't like it they boo you but if they do like it then nothing.

Ringos boo count is ridiculous but thats how it goes,put yourself out there
by posting advice etc and you get this. Crazy.  :-\
