Beau Waters is under fresh injury cloud

hey dmac, I'm feeling a 7/10

-0.5 for Waters with inj-risk and he had a good 2012, so not sure he'll hold his value
-1 for Goldstein - i've been reading a lot of critical reasoning as to why he won't get back to 2011 standard and I tend to agree
-0.5 for Cloke - risky but I can see why you've got him there
-0.5 for Nicoski - returning from inj but i can't see him generating enough cash or becoming a 'keeper' so he's taking the spot of a premium or a rookie depending on which way you're going
-0.5 for the risk in your bottom 4 for your Def line (incl rooks, so might be being a bit harsh)

decent effort though and just an opinion.

Good luck!  ;)

Def: Your defence looks solid. Not sold on Bock. Tough. I do think you have too much cash on the bench. Think you should downgrade one of Goodes or Osborne.

Mid: look fine. Not a fan of Murphy.

Rucks: standard. Think Grundy may be slightly ahead of Witts however at the Pies.

For; Cloke nice unique.  Should improve on last year. Think there are better options than Nicoski.

Solid Team:

Not commenting on Rookies as they will change dependent on promotions and being named for Round 1.

DEF: Solid - 2 risks for Round 1 with Waters and Bock both under injury clouds.  Maybe look at replacing 1.
MID: No issues here - Murphy will gain extra attention this year so may need to watch.
RUCK: Standard - Goldy will be main Ruck at North so may get back to 2011 form.  Know of the speculation but risk = reward and his price worth it.
FWD: Weak link here - Thomas still in moonboot so will probably be underdone. Cloke too inconsistent Nicoski returning from injury

Rate 7.5/10

Couple of suggestions - Move Staker forward and replace Nicoski - Also gives you DPP with Bock.  Replace with another rookie who is playing.  Think there will be a number of Defence rookies play this year.  Watch Terlich.
Maybe replace Daw/Witts with McBean or Rowe to give DPP.
Forwrads tweak team to see if you can bring in Cos, Nat, Roughhead or Ryder to fill the R/F role for flexibility.  All 4 of these finished in the top 6 scoring forwards for last year.

Nice looking team that needs a little tweaking I reckon

DEF: As has already been mentioned Waters is under an injury cloud and if previous years are to go by even if he lines up round 1 he will most likely injure himself at some stage during the season. Bock very doubtful to play round 1 at this stage.
MIDS: Very nice. Can't fault your selections here.
RUCKS: A very popular combo that can't be faulted.
FWD: As has been mentioned, Daisy is in a moonboot so could be the perfect upgrade target for this year. Wouldn't go for Cloke as his scores will be up and down all year. I would swap him for a MID/FWD type player.

I give your team a 7.5 at this stage mate.

New team, been playing with it for months, this is my current set-up, only about half the team is locked in.

Backs - Goddard, Shaw, Gibbs, Osborne, Gibbs, Pittard, (Staker, Docherty)

Mid - Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Dangerfield, Moloney, Lonergan, Mirchell, Omeara (Crouch, Viney)

Ruck - Jacobs, Luenberger (Witts, Currie)

Fwds - Franklin, Cox, Walker, Rockliff, Karnezis, Byrnes (Macaffer, Neade)

Staker only if fit, other options in back rookies.

Franklin - not 100% on, can put a rookie in this position and get murphy/cotchin in the mids, this would however mean dropping a mid rookie like lonergan/crouch for a fwd rookie like lee/kerridge, who wont make half as much cash. My other option is to drop him to a mid pricer like varcoe and upgrade moloney in the mids, but i really want to keep moloney, thinking he will ave 100.

Tear it apart if you will to see where ive gone wrong.

Ringo

Nice team now so sit for a couple if weeks till finalising rookies. Staker will be missing till around Round 4 so look for an option.

Only other suggestion would be to subsitute  one of Witts/Currie to Rowe to allow flexibility with Cox should Berger get rested etc,

Only personal but if cash allows would go Varcoe over Byrnes.

Hippo

are you sure you can afford 2 Gibb's?

Majak

"Backs - Goddard, Shaw, Gibbs, Osborne, Gibbs, Pittard, (Staker, Docherty)"

Ah yes the old double Gibbs strat, bit risky but may pay off

Haha, that should read, goodes

New Update, getting pretty close to a final team. A few positions are still 50/50, especially rookies.

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Heppel, Vlaustin, Osborne, Goodes (Docherty, Terlich)

Mids: Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Dangerfield, Moloney, Wines, Mitchell, Omeara (Crouch, Viney)

Rucks: Cox, Jacobs (Daw, Currie)

Fwds: Franklin, Walker, Rockliff, Kennedy, Varcoe, Karnezis (Macaffer, Rowe)

As  far as rookies go, docherty, crouch and viney are all on shaky ground but will make up my mind when teams are named, m.jones of melb may well come into the mids bench.

13K left over.

Ringo

Nice team here

Only issue I see you will have to manage your trading as you have 9 of your prems with Round 13 bye.   Just something to be aware of especially as you can make up ground during the byes with some careful planning.

j

Pretty solid team. Just keep in mind you'll be better off with Byrnes instead of Varcoe, Byrnes will average 10-15 points more and you'll save some cash.
