New rules new plans, decided to put in Ablett based on his three 40+ possession games to start 2012, probably to many midpricers here, how's it looking?

I actual dont mind that team and its pretty similar to mine ;)

Backs - Solid 3 premos and a decent midpricer that could work. obviously which midpricer you pick will be based on NAB form
Mids - Have to watch Embley closely, huge talk he will be the super sub for eagles a lot of the time this year and if he is, youre stuck with some dead wood on your side. you could always upgrade him to a Luke Ball or even downgrade him to a Koby Stevens. Just be careful with him for now. Solid mids though. I would almost get Kane Mitchell in for Crouch as he is more likely to play but who knows with rookies atm.
Rucks - BigMac is a good pick with the new trading rules now.
Fowards - Very strong department here, and like alll 6 of them. Only thing i would change is having staked. would be more inclined to pick someone like Josh Simpson/Brent Macaffer. not too sold on Stakeres scoring potential for now :\

Heres my team at the moment

B Gibbs, P Duffield, H Hartlett, L Brown, J Pittard, S Docherty
D Terlich, S Colquhon (or any other port rookie that plays)

G Ablett, T Cotchin, S Pendlebury, M Murphy, Fyfe/Barlow/Mundy, J Newnes, J O'Mera, K Mitchell
M Jones, J Viney

A Sandilands, M Leunberger
D Gorringe, S Rowe

D Cox, M Pavlich, T Rockliff, M Robinson, G Broughton, T Varcoe
B Macaffer, J Simpson

Cash left 84k

Few things to note:
-Really wwant to squeeze in a back mid pricer, someone like Otten/Brodie Smith/Howard or the likes however i dont really have the cash to at the moment, may have ti fiddle with my team a bit
- M5 out of the 3 freo boys will be decided come NAB, but by all reports Mundy is running non stop over there so most likely him at this stage.
-Broughton selected as a forward for now, purely cos there are so many good back rookies and pretty much 0 forward ones. Will watch in NAB, but if hes not good, looking at either downgrading to Siposs or a Knights to free up some cash. May then use this cash to upgrade Colquhon

This looks pretty solid tbh. I don't see a need to comment on player choices as there is are good arguments for all that you have in there to be in there. Rookies cant comment on at this stage either. So that leaves me with structure to comment on freely. The only drawback i see is your minds are very strong at the expense of your backline having another Prem in it and maybe offload Otten to one. Id look to offload Embley or a Premm to sure up your backline but that's an entirely personal opinion as i see the mid rooks as being our greatest cash cows particularly in the 1st half of the year when rooks are generally more often getting games and changing so taking advantage of that would be my only comment. In saying all that your set up as you have it now could well be the one that hits it out the park. Id watch Knights and Varcoe closely over the NAB rounds, i have these 2 and will need to watch the NAB for their roles and be confident in my choice with them as far as making cash from them goes as at the minute they are only cash cows for mine due to a lack of Fwd rookies at present, hopefully NAB unveils a couple more.
i find it difficult to say this is wrong or this player is wrong etc when we are all starting from new again. Id attempt to ask yourself is this Prem going to be in the Top 2 for rucks, Top 6 for Fwds/Buck's and Top 8 for mids come years end and adjust from there if you feel the need, this will help gain a full prem team yet still allow the number of sideways, rookie trades and normal trades required to make the cash and do it as rapidly as possible. All in all it looks a solid foundation in which to begin your assault on 2013. Wouldnt play with it to much more untill NAB is rolling as its probably pointless till then tbh.

Great post again Grazz, thinking on very similar lines to me, however I do like the idea of fewer prem backs.

But yehh wasnt relaly saying which player was wrong or right, just pointing out players to keep a close eye on for one reason or another come NAB.

Haha i was referring to the advice i was giving Tbag. Nothing wrong with picking players like Staker, Crouch, Embley etc they are all potentially good picks, however there are big question marks over them for one reason or another and was just merely pointing out that they need to be monitored closely :)

Grazz

Totally agree azza, atleast with the rookies and unlimited trades by the end of round 2 we should all be on the right ones providing we havent got them terribly wrong. Weve got a couple of rounds to punt them before they are on the bubble.

tbagrocks

Thanks guys, just got a feeling about Otten we know how good he was early on before injuries, real cheap and if he at least gets 80's he'll be a great pick, probably saving to much money, Mundy or Danger could come in, also want Heppell back there :D

Yeh mate spend that cash, you cant keep it haha. ;)

Tinkering still, i'm sure there will be doubts, what do you all think? $78 800 left

Chopps

tbag just curious as this is how i see it, arent you better off having cox at R1 and spending 412 k or so on a forward that averages 80? unless of course your tipping bellchambers to increase significantly i have little knowledge with the dons

tbagrocks

He had some decent numbers recently and is tipped to breakout as the lead ruck what I am hearing, Goldy still on the cards, Dropped Martin to move Cox forward so can still swap back.

Taking a risk with the trades, both rucks to be upgraded at some stage, looking for value to fit in more good scorers rarther than stacking with the high priced prems, still want Heppell in the backline, cna't have them all, wouldn't mind upgrading Murphy or Fyfe to say Watson, or Ablett if I find cash

The only 3 players i would worry about t-bags, are M3, M1 bench and F4, (just joshin). maybe Heath to Jasper and Monfries to Karny may free up some cash
