I have made my very first draft of my team. No research has been conducted into rookies.

*Note: In 2012, I finished ranked 4630 Overall (top 1%). Going for league win this year.
**Note: I am also currently unaware of the major changes to SuperCoach for 2013, from last year, besides the squad changes.

TEAM NAME: Italian Stallions 2013
DEF: B. Goddard, H. Shaw, H. Scotland, N. Bock, L. Plowman, N. Vlastuin (S. Docherty, B. Staker)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, S. Pendlebury, T. Cotchin, M. Murphy, L. Ball, L. Whitfield, J. Toumpas, T. Menzel (E. Kavanagh, J. Viney)
RUC: N. Naitanui, I. Maric (M. Gawn, B. Grundy)
FWD: L. Franklin, T. Rockliff, M. Robinson, A. Krakouer, M. LeCras, J. Stringer (M. Morton, J. Daniher)
CASH LEFT: $86,400

Talking Points
-Bock, Ball, Krakeour and Lecras; all around 250k whom I currently have taken a punt on. Up for suggestions.
-6 Starting rookies.
-Including Brent Staker in my team.

Up for any sort of criticism or praise, from small to large, please :)

Great to see you back Luigi.

With the changes in SC this year this team will not fit under the cap.  With the additional emergency, rolling lockouts and bye scoring expect the magic number to increase thus increasing prices.

Regarding your team as it stands:

Def Looks a bit this with no Gibbs.  Goddard and Gibbs imo are 2 defence locks.

Mids, 4 strong prems plus Ball and rookies solid no objections here,

Ruck  - Interesting combination  First team I have seen with the mullet as a prem ruck. Nice POD if it comes off.

Forwards: Reasonably sound but bit of a risk with Robinson at F3.  Would have liked a stronger F3

Nice start but wait to review when prices announced,

Bock will be seriously underdone from most reports so I wouldn't go there.
I think Luenberger is a serious must as R2 and should start around 300k in SC.
With the increased number of R/Fs this year, I personally think it makes sense to have a R/F like Cox or Nicnat in your fwd line with your 4th ruck as a rookie with R/F status.
The R4 gives you an insurance policy with your ruck in the fwds plus it can be used to exploit the VC loophole.

Plowman, Jaksch and Corr will all be fighting for the young tall key defenders spot, but I do believe one of them will get a regular spot in the GWS 22.
With Gilham and Cornes as the experienced heads down back, I see GWS doing everything they can to blood a young key defender given that young talent has been identified in all other areas on the ground.

I like the inclusion of Brent Staker, but I only have expectations of him being a cash cow, not a keeper.

Cheers for the advice fellas. I was actually unaware that the Magic Number would be subject to change. Obviously that means there will be a lot of tinkering done.
Any ideas on when abouts we will hear of the prices?

I think for now Maric and Naitanui seem like an OK idea in my eyes, but i definitely like the idea of trying to get a R/F DPP in there.
And my forwards were very hard to choose. I just could'nt find anyone I really liked; so I am really up for suggestions there.

My first go with new prices, still with not much research.

February 26, 2013.
23 Days until Round 1.

Italian Stallions Provisional Team:
DEF: Goddard, Gibbs, Heppell, Lake, Thornton, Docherty (Terlich, Colquhoun)
MID: Pendlebury, Cotchin, Murphy, Fyfe, Rischitelli, Ball, B Goodes, O'Meara (J Lonergan, Viney)
RUC: Cox, Leunberger (Witts, Currie)
FWD: Franklin, Bartel, Rockliff, Jenkins, Stringer, Daniher (Staker, Cameron)
bank: $120,900

With 30 trades, that is more than enough trades to do upgrade and downgrades to get an eventual almost all-premium team right? My structure isn't too stuffed up?
5 Starting rookies. Good amount?
Thornton, Fyfe, Rischitelli, Ball, Leunberger, Jenkins. Any arguments against these mid-pricers?
Are there any other rookies i've missed out on that are must haves, or are there any i really should ditch out of my current team?
Are the rest of my premiums solid picks?

In depth comments much values, picky one-liners also appreciated :)

PS: Link me to your team if you want. I would be more than happy to help others!

Dunno about RISKYtelli! Bennell,Swallow,Prestia,O'Maera etc will take his points after GAJ.

I LOVE someone has the balls to pick Lake. He can settle in and work in tandem with Gibbo, take heaps of contested marks and be a part of the chip it around style of play. I had him locked in but Grimes has his spot now. I'm not sold on Heppell. Hanley would be my choice or Grimes.

Thornton? Way too risky for me. Prefer a rookie and cash to get GAJ.

As I tell everyone I would put Cox forward and drop Buddy. Glad to see someone else (but not too many) likes Bartel. If u want Jenkins (I like him as a smokie) then u could just put him in the ruck and get Zorko for buddy, giving more cash to upgrade Riskytelli to GAJ.

In general a good team with good uniques but a little too much cash in the backs and not enough forward. (esp as not many fwd rookies).

Backs - Nice backs, not to sold on Lake atm, bit of a risk but could pay off?

Mids - Like the mids structure but im not a fan of the Rischetelli pick! Maybe get a Kennedy from Swans if u can afford it?

Rucks - Good structure, like the pick of Leuy!

For - It will be interesting to see how Franklin goes! I havent gone with him cause he always bombs out!

8/10 - Nice team! :D

@ubeaut
Wouldn't you think that it really is only Rischa and Bennell competing for Midfield points from Gazza? Rischa isn't just anyone; he is actually a beast of a player who got injured last year. He had ample success at Brisbane.
How can you not be sold on Heppell? at 450k, has every chance to average over 100 as he stars for the Bombers and moves into the midfield more and more. Hanley and Grimes would be good similar replacements anyway.
Cox is going to absolutely kill it. How can you not have him? He will be the no1 or no2 ruck in the whole competition behind or in front of Nic Nat.
You seem set on me getting GAJ, but 30 trades is plenty to just upgrade a cash cow later to him rather than get him at an insane price now.
Thornton is a risky pick and could change definitely.
Franklin will be a star! Why not???
But yeah a simple defence and forward switch could solve your main issue :)
Thanks!

@MartyNadort
Rischitelli is quite cheap, so I'd like to see some arguments in why i shouldn't pick him. Just look at his scores.
I don't get what is wrong with Franklin!??!
Will go rate your team now :)

Cheers guys :)
