Andrew

Salary cap left: $121,200.

Brendon Goddard, Heath Scotland, Bryce Gibbs, Dyson Heppell, Nick Vlastuin, Sam Docherty
Jasper Pittard, Dean Terlich

Gary Ablett jnr, Scott Pendlebury, Brent Stanton, Marc Murphy, Luke Ball, Andrew Embley, Travis Varcoe (M/F), Anthony Morabito
Jaeger O'Meara, Jack Viney

Todd Goldstein, Matthew Leuenberger
Nathan Vardy, Joel Hamling (R/F)

Steve Johnson, Tom Rockliff, Nic Naitanui, Josh J. Kennedy, Robbie Gray, Mark LeCras
Andrew Krakouer, Brent Staker (D/F)

My plan is to early sell whoever is under-performing out of Kennedy, Robbie Gray, Mark LeCras, or Andrew Krakouer, move Travis Varcoe forward and buy Swan hopefully at a discount. Or is it nuts not to start with Swan if you're going for overall? He seems over-priced...

Couple of notes.
Scotland is likely to miss early games due to belting some bogan in rural Victoria last year.
Robbie Gray will miss the first month of regular season with nerve damage stemming from his broken leg last year.
NicNat is still recovering from groin surgery.

You're starting plenty of midpricers, I see. That's a double-edged sword - you are increasing your chances of finding both the next Ivan Maric AND also the next Arryn Sipposs or Jarrad Grant. You've got a strategy and some extra trades (thanks VS) so why not take a punt!

Good luck!

Yeah with 30 trades and not the same array of rookies as before, I'm going for the many mid-pricers on offer, some of whom everyone will have (Ball, Le Cras, and I thought Gray). I haven't heard anything about I will admit, but do you have a link for the Robbie Gray recovery? And I thought Scotland was reprimanded a couple of months ago of that incident? I know about Nic Nat but he's got a long time to recover. If he's no good by the start of the season, I'll start with Cox or Martin instead.

New team with info from above and new DPP announcements:

Salary cap left: $165,900.

Brendon Goddard, Danny Stanley, Bryce Gibbs, Dyson Heppell, Nick Vlastuin, Sam Docherty
Jasper Pittard, Dean Terlich

Gary Ablett jnr, Scott Pendlebury, Brent Stanton, Marc Murphy, Luke Ball, Andrew Embley, Oliver Wines, Anthony Morabito
Jaeger O'Meara, Jack Viney

Todd Goldstein, Nathan Vardy
Matthew Leuenberger, Joel Hamling

Dean Cox, Steve Johnson, Tom Rockliff, Josh J. Kennedy, Mark LeCras, Andrew Krakouer
Travis Varcoe, Brent Staker

R.Griffen

Def: Good Defence Goddard and Gibbs are locks and Heppell could turn out to be a good choice. I'm not sure about Stanley he might start to see a bit less of the ball depending if he plays in the same line of position as Broughton, but he could be a great unique pick. Starting 2 rookie defenders could be difficult but if Vlastuin and Docherty are give consistent game time and with out the vest it could pay off.

Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury and Murphy are great picks but with Goddard being at Essendon Stanton could have a whole year like he played the first half of the 2012 season. 4 guns and 2 MPP's are very heavy with the great cash cows coming from the midfield, but you have made up that rookie in your Defence.

Rucks: Vardy will play a ruck forward role i've heard so he could be a great pick but im not sure about the 2 MPP very risky work.

Forward: I could go on and on about Steve J because I hate him in AFL Fantasy but he's a good player age is starting to creep up on him. Very nice forward line otherwise but with Mayes and Martin coming to the club I see no room for Staker (even though I think he is better than Martin.

Overall: Lots of MPP and cheap picks to try and find the Ivan Maric like Mezzoculo has said 8/10 could be a great team if all works out.

Andrew

Thanks heaps for the feedback. Vardy does seem not worth it considering I want to start with Coxand have the DPP link with Hamling so that's already back-up enough for the ruck line. I've altered my team to this:

Nice rucks, and the R/F link with Setanta and Cox. A.Krak is an interesting choice, would like to know why you have him. Along with Danny Stanley. A nice 4 premo midfield with the 2 middies. :)

Yeah I'm loving my midfield structure, I still like Ball at his price. Krakour is cheaply priced for a forward with good job security who averaged 75 last year. But I could turn him into a different mid-pricer (Knights) or a rookie and go in cashed up (could be advantageous with 30 trades). F5 seems like a tough spot to fill at the moment and I guess it's similar with defence where there aren't any standout mid-priced picks.

Andrew

Modified team after reconsidering Krakour, Stanley, and replacing Morabito.

Salary cap left: $15,900.

Brendon Goddard, Bryce Gibbs, Dyson Heppell, Jared Brennan, Jasper Pittard, Sam Docherty
Lewis Stevenson, Dean Terlich

Dane Swan, Gary Ablett jnr, Jack Redden, Marc Murphy, Luke Ball, Andrew Embley, Josh Cowan, Michael Evans
Jaeger O'Meara, Jack Viney

Todd Goldstein, Matthew Leuenberger
Max Gawn, Liam McBean

Dean Cox, Tom Rockliff, Dustin Martin, Greg Broughton, Josh J. Kennedy, Chris Knights
Brent Staker, Josh Simpson

Mr.Craig

Cowan and Evans might get a few games later in the year but I highly doubt they will be Round 1 starters. The same could be said of Simpson. In the mids look at Crouch, K.Mitchell, Hrovat and M.Jones as they seem the best placed to play early. In the forwards Lee, Membrey and Neade might be chances but you're probably better off finding the money to get Stringer, Mayes or Daniher.

Cheers for the heads up on the rookies and yeah Cowan in particularly doesn't seem like he'll have much job security. Forward line rookies are tough picks, but I'm considering swinging Broughton in DEF instead of Brennan and picking another rookie in the forward line. It would give me the link-up with Staker's dual-position as well.

If you're got no faith in the forward rookies then perhaps leave Broughton and Staker in the FWD line and replace Brennan with a Def rook. You'll be able to swing either Greg or Staker back when you trade out your first defender.

EG (D/F DPP in bold, changes in * *):
DEF - Goddard -- Gibbs -- Heppell -- Pittard -- *Goodes* -- Stevenson (Docherty -- Terlich)

FWD - Cox -- Rockliff -- Martin -- Broughton -- Kennedy -- Knights (*Mayes* - Staker)
