Cheers for the heads up on the rookies and yeah Cowan in particularly doesn't seem like he'll have much job security. Forward line rookies are tough picks, but I'm considering swinging Broughton in DEF instead of Brennan and picking another rookie in the forward line. It would give me the link-up with Staker's dual-position as well.

If you're got no faith in the forward rookies then perhaps leave Broughton and Staker in the FWD line and replace Brennan with a Def rook. You'll be able to swing either Greg or Staker back when you trade out your first defender.

Aren't Mayes & Goodes on the rookie list? And how much job security would either have? I like the idea of being able to swing Broughton & Staker between lines, gives me the 5-rookie DEF similar to the one that you put together while also backup for Varcoe or Knights if they've got a 1-week layoff, or if I'm using Cox as cover in my rucks (McBean the R/F linkup there). Josh Simpson surely had his stocks rise with the news about Morabito.

I've made the following alterations, Oliver Wines is a high-priced rookie who I'm 50/50 on (I don't want M7 to be a gamble of a pick, shame about Morabito), but obviously rookies are up in the air for a long time yet:

Would be handy if Simpson got a crack! There's not many other FWD rookie options.

You're right in that Goodes is on the rookie list, although Footscray have another spot on their primary to elevate someone (as Port do). Mayes, however, was an early draft pick (priced at 152k) and has been talked up as a great disposer of the ball in a team that lacks such players.

It's been said by others here on FF, but its not necessary to start with active DPP links, as we are all able to ensure most (if not all) of our selected players are actually getting a gig in Round 1. Better to choose the best players and activate your DPP links when necessary.
